With RotK you have the choice of watching the theatrical cut or the extended cut. If Dune doesn't get the 6 hour extended cut some of us want, we don't get the choice at all.

DV has said in the past he has no plans to release a longer cut. what we saw in theaters was The Film

that being said, if someone were to, say, strap him and joe walker to chairs and force them to cut a 4hr DUNC, well, I think the old man would just have to take one for the team in that situation. hypothetically speaking of course

It wears a human face.
Apparently War Thunder is doing some kind of "Dune"-themed April Fools Day mode.

quote:

From April 1st 09:00 GMT until April 25th 11:00 GMT

The desert planet is so beautiful when the sun is low. Rolling over the sands, you can see cinnamon in the air, the most important resource in the known universe. Two mighty houses fight for control of the cinnamon fields - the House of the Bull, ruled by tyrannical Mister Paejeh, and the armored corps of the imperial aristocrates, the House of the Hawk, new governors of the planet. Cinnamon fields are the home of gargantuan sand worms, revered by the local population as divine beasts known as Fathers of the Desert. The worms make dangerous harvesting in the desert deadly. Roars of engines and rolling over the sand cause sandworms to attack harvesters and escorting combat vehicles. Father of the Desert comes to punish noisy neighbors!

The mission objective is to achieve control over three key points in the desert location. The Houses of the Bull and Hawk use the same imperial combat vehicles, but each House has its own unique combat unit. Proceed with extreme caution! Firing guns and moving at high speed attracts the sand worm!

Makes no sense. Jabba existed millennia ago, and Leto doesn’t exist until millennia into the future. Leto may contain Jabba’s memories but beyond that you’re just speculating.

Leto remembers when Jabba had a dick. He is so repulsed by the memory he chooses to lose it.

Even that would be a more subtle ripoff than a lot of the stuff from early Star Wars drafts, IIRC. "Jedi-Bindu" training, "spice" being much more of a central element to the plot, probably Tatoooine being even more of an Arrakis ripoff... I remember reading an article about it years ago that was pretty LOL.

Jedi came out in 1983, two years after GEoD was published. George Lucas claimed he 'always wanted Jabba to be a giant slug' but who knows; they did film a big portly human actor in those scenes that were cut from ANH. I think the time frame is a bit too close but I also wouldn't put it past Lucas to immediately pilfer any details he could from Frank's brand-new book.
