Well, I see it hasn't gotten any less boring since the last time I looked at it. Even looking at an entire week of it at once, it's slow. And looking at just a single day's strip, it's basically nothing.
You're calling that week of Heart slow? It introduces a plot and sets up multiple potential character conflicts.

By contrast, the last week of Mary Worth is Toby driving home from work.

Also Toby’s problems could be solved entirely by a single conversation, two conversations, tops. Did she even try to tell that nosy faculty member that the student just approaches her and starts talking about art?

Very taken aback at how coherent this comic is when it's not attempting to be the world's most inappropriately paced adaptation of Little Women.

Something you have to understand is that in a world with Wilbur, Wilbur's daughter, and Estelle, Toby is the stupid one.

I'm glad that that line wasn't too egregious. On that note, in today's Blueberry: I know what I said about Topeka last time, so let's pretend that this is the little known rail-town of Topeka, MI ok?, or Anyone who uses the phrase 'I say' as some kind of opener is worthy of a dope-slap, IMHO, or Blueberry makes his move...

Week 1

Day 1: Heart learns about the contest and decides to enter.
Day 2: Heart repeats the information from day 1.
Day 3: Heart recruits her friends.
Day 4: We get one additional detail about the contest.
Day 5: Literally nothing.

Week 2

Day 6: Still nothing.
Day 7: A very weak joke; no movement on the plot.
Day 8: An antagonist arrives.
Day 9: The antagonist is introduced for new readers.
Day 10: Literally nothing.

Calling literally anything slow in a medium where an old man has been revealing a prophecy for six months, and two weeks are spent on a little girl coming up with unused baby names, is absolutely astounding to me, and some of the "literally nothing" there is what I'd call "story beats" or "conversations", but here is another slow week of Heart of the City, I guess:

My paternal grandmother and grandfather were both teachers. They hid their marriage for several months so that she could finish up the semester, at least.

I think she was always just a little bitter that he didn't have to give up teaching but, as my dad puts it, god forbid a woman who's had sex teach children.
