At first her arms were in her lap where they should be, but at the very last second she put her arms up at 10 and 2 and stiffened them. I'd probably do the same thing, but it's really interesting to see it in action.

Where was her seat belt?!

I would bet a lot of the time they don't wear them because the lap belt portion probably is super uncomfortable with the crap they have on their belt. Which is a stupid reason, but people can be stupid. Evidence: this thread.

The crash also illustrates why you should limit the amount of random crap inside the interior of your car. It all becomes a missile in the case of a crash.

buttcrackmenace posted:"hello, State Farm? The guy I rented my Tesla to off of Turo just txted me that he's had an accident. How do we start the claim process?" I know this is a joke, but Turo actually does it right. The renter has an insurance policy FROM TURO that covers that car. That's part of the service. So this is a legit service, not just a platform to skim money off of your transaction. Motronic fucked around with this message at 02:33 on Mar 22, 2022 |

It probably detects them as pedestrians I hate a lot of these assists, but rear cross-traffic is super useful if I'm in a busy parking lot between big-rear end vehicles in my small hatchback. It simply sees more than I am able to.

I should probably get back in the habit of either backing in or pulling through where both spots are clear, I used to work in a parking lot where the spots were absurdly small and I wasn't even going to try backing in with a compact hatchback since parked perfectly I had just enough room to get out on my side and no room on the passenger side. Really the worst was when I had a job that required me to go to wal-marts constantly in a windowless cargo van. I had a backup sensor to make sure I wasn't backing directly into an unaccompanied child but aside from that it was just stop and start creeping out hoping people would realize I can't see a drat thing.

No need for rear detection stuff if you park it like that. Win-win I don’t mind the rear collision detection but I wish I could like, turn it off locationally because my garage is quite small and my car screams bloody murder every morning when I’m trying to back out. My poor neighbors.
