They're certainly not going to explain everything that is going on, so if you aren't already satisfied with the rate that details have been revealed then you're going to be disappointed.

Worst case scenario: The whole final episode will be a flashback episode.

Severance is like Devs but with a really bizarre quirkiness. in a bizarre way the tone is kind of like, the dark mirror world version of Wes Anderson the music party scene in particular

Catching up on Minx. I really really enjoyed episode 5. Does a great job of the standard "the women are the power behind the throne narrative," and I love how the end gives Joyce her emotional judo moment while still doing the work so that Doug still remains sympathetic long-term

Ramrod Hotshot posted:That was such a disappointing movie. All I wanted was Drive 2: Bangkok Drift. And come on that would've been awesome. It sticks with me as a really interesting movie and I remember it having one of the better threads here. It's a great, frustrating depiction of an incompetent character who's basically stuck in a Death Wish movie. That's pretty neat...not necessarily interesting to actually watch outside of a few scenes though. I guess I should try Too Old To Die Young.

The Halo show is much better than it should be. Strong late-90's sci-fi vibes. Pablo "pornstache" Shreiber is pretty good as Chief.

Watching Winning Time, and it's reminding me: when people say that something is an acquired taste, the idea is that it's a taste worth acquiring. The over the top cinematography is a legit hurdle, but there's a real solid show under all the embroidery and gold leaf. Plus, every so often, they really hit on a lovely image.

It had the vibe of an anti smoking PSA they'd show in school from like, 1995 edit: Severance in general is pretty good though. I know there's not going to be an "all is revealed" moment but that doesn't make for a good show anyway. That's a Shyamalan movie lol Ramrod Hotshot fucked around with this message at 05:02 on Apr 6, 2022 |

We finished a rewatch of HIMYM. Had watched it when it was on but hadn’t seen the later seasons. Those are definitely a mixed bag. Barnie wasn’t great when it aired and the character has not aged well at all. Finale still terrible but the other episodes of the last season better than expected. Could have just stopped an episode earlier and everyone would love that season.

I liked the finale because of what an incredible troll it was, essentially negating the last 2-3 seasons of the show (which were pretty rough all around anyway) In other news I finally watched Mitchells vs. The Machines after everyone said it was robbed at the Oscars and it was extremely cute + heartfelt Also watched annual Benedict Cumberbatch historical drama The Courier and it was better than I expected, though mostly because it ended up being a story about guys being bros

Just finished the first season of Raised by Wolves and I am not sure what I just watched, but it was definitely awesome. If you haven't checked it out, give the first episode a try, and if the last 20 minutes don't pique your interest then move on.

The pusher movies are also great but OGF is extremely Refn without feeling like one of these recent Netflix films where they give a director money and say go wild. It’s a tight 90 minutes, and even if I could handle the vibes for longer I appreciate that

Severance is great. I am just loving the experience/design/everything top to bottom. I love how, all the actors, seem to have striking visual features in one way or the other. There's no plain jane people on there. Very effective casting choices. They should give out a golden globe for "best landed line" because "You smug motherfucker" hit absolutely perfectly.

I'm amazed that Big Mouth has managed to inspire a spin-off series (Human Resources), and it seems... I dunno, it seems fine, if you loved Big Mouth I think it'll be worth watching. Mostly I wanted to open up a can of worms because it had a hilarious but potentially problematic background joke. One of the characters, Pete the Logic Rock, has an autographed photo of a big muscly brown bald man that says "Pete, you're MY Rock", signed obviously "Dwayne" although it's scribbled. Is The Rock being gay such an open secret these days that it's just part of the conversation of shows and stuff? I've always heard rumors and as a "blink and you'll miss it" gag I found that hilarious, but then I was like "hmm..."
