From the Ramayana series I just got--the art is unquestionably 'better' but I miss the warm familiar feel of the older comic book style they used in the Mahabharata version.

The dude whose army gets destroyed then leaves to practice austerities in the Himalayas and ends up gaining tons of spiritual power.

I feel like the art in the Mahabharata is me growing up with comics in the early 90's and the art in the Ramayana is me seeing comics as an adult in the late 2000's.

Also, the panel where the artist could have drawn Rama in his form of infinite universes in a Kirby-esque double spread and was like "gently caress it, I'm not getting paid enough and this needs to be done by Tuesday."

Lol. I'm sure Liefeld's Mahabharata will rank along side Simon Bisley's The Bible as things that certainly originated in the 90's.

Haha, exactly--it's like, given that script, you choose to depict a little baby Rama? And not even show him in two places at once, let alone his infinite form!?

Such a missed opportunity.

The Surfers actual name is Rob. Not many people know this, nor that his lack of ears is what keeps him so stoic in the face of adversity.

The Silver Surfer comic is making a reference to the Grammy award-winning rock album by Joe Satriani which featured the Silver Surfer on the cover of it.
