Really cool but for authenticity, the tank should be towed with the chain in sort of a V shape, connecting to two attachment points on the front of the tank, near the tank treads.

All the (absurdy abundant) tractor hookup photos show them using that configuration. I think the chains used are a standard accessory carried on the tank itself. Looks like thick steel rope with eyelets on the ends.

I'm seeing stuff on Instagram that units in Mauripol have surrendered (not from russian leaning accounts). Hoping not, there is a brit in the marine unit there that won't have a great time if he's captured.

I'll cop to being completely surprised by how this played out, myself. I definitely expected war, but reckoned Putin would just annex the Eastern territories, swat away some counter attacks and call it a day. Go home a conquering hero and wait out the sanctions before nibbling a bit more in a few years. In my defence I thought that because a full scale invasion was a ridiculously terrible idea.

Translation

quote:

In Mariupol, a unit of the Nikolaev 36th Separate Marine Brigade named after Rear Admiral Belinsky, as a result of a special operation, was able to get out of the enemy's encirclement and connect with the Azov regiment.

Source : " Crime . Is NOT PRESENT " with reference to one of the officers of the brigade

Details : According to him, despite the great complexity, the special operation was carried out successfully.

“I can’t tell you the details, but I can say for sure that now we have connected with the Azov regiment. Several hundred marines, including the wounded, managed to get out,” the brigade officer said.

Background:

Since March 1, Mariupol has been blocked by Russian troops, who have created a humanitarian catastrophe in the city and are committing genocide. So far, it has not been possible to unblock Mariupol and it is difficult to provide assistance to the fighters.
On April 11, the 36th Separate Marine Brigade , which is involved in the defense of Mariupol, said that April 11 could be the last battle for the defenders of Mariupol, and the Ukrainian military command did not contact the fighters for two weeks.
Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valeriy Zaluzhny assured that there is a connection between the command and the defense forces in Mariupol, and the details of the defense operation should not be the subject of public discussion.
On the evening of April 11, Russian invaders dropped a poisonous substance of unknown origin on Mariupol. According to Azov leader Andrey Biletsky , the Russian army used chemical weapons over the Azovstal plant, which is being held by soldiers of the Azov regiment.
On April 12, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the Presidential Office, said that the president and the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were looking for an opportunity to help Ukrainian soldiers in Mariupol, but they could not voice their plans publicly.

Sounds like the Russians split the forces up in Mariupol so one section fell and another is hanging on

Ukraine and Russia have been doing POW swaps, so he would have some hope, as Ukraine also has captured lots of POWs and more will come. BTW I think I found where that convoy got roasted. FIRMS is used for tracking 'thermal anomolies' - usually forest fires - but it's also a really good tool for finding combat hot spots. It doesn't just notice fires but also high levels of smoke/particles in the air. According to the post from earlier the convoy got blowed up about 40km from Izyum. So I took a peek and found this

They have a fairly large staff that is decently paid, get to take trips to Syria/Russia to attend conferences, all the while making almost zero revenue. Oh and the Grayzone infamously refuses to reveal the sources for their income, a greasy move for supposed "journalists." But I see Blumenthal and Mate propped up as legitimate voices in the left all the time, they make lots of appearances with Rolling Stone, RT, Jimmy Dore, along with some other outlets. They get a lot of views that way and serve as a kind of intellectual basis for a fairly large community. The streamers help them out a lot too, if you group together the roughly 20 or so streamers that regularly feature those guys that's another million+ people watching their stuff. If you figure Russia might've spent half a million a year funding the Grayzone it's pretty good bang for their buck. Certainly a lot more effective than some of the tanks they sent into battle that lasted 2 days before getting blown up.

What makes them leftist? Everything you described just makes them sound like radical right wing. I don't see how you can be left leaning (in modern terms) and be in favor of fascism. That's a risk of categorising people like Bernie Sanders into this group who obviously is the opposite of fascist. I don't get why everyone tries to put a "left" tag on things. Russia are pumping their money into right wing pro-fascists, even if these people are "identifying" as left.
