Nope, apparently they were the same person. The tumblr was unlinked from reddits master list after they blanked out their stories. Its a shame, they were ok at writing, as far as unprofessionally edited reddit stories go.

this is actually super bad technique also, you're not supposed to puff your cheeks out while playing a wind instrument of any kind, for any reason, except for theatrical effect.

It's bad technique and caused him to lost his ability to hold his cheeks in fairly early on. He was still one of the greatest to ever do it.

I mentioned this in the PYF Dangerous Chemistry thread and forgot to crosspost it here. I was down in Alabama for a couple of weeks and had to wait for freight trains to pass at a level crossing (not what I'm used to up here in CT)

I was googling the UN numbers on the passing rail cars and at the tail end of the train, it got really fun when a few tank cars of UN 2032 (red fuming nitric acid) went by.

I recently started working in the semiconductor industry. Wafer fabrication equipment, specifically. The amount of dangerous substances in our large clean room lab is eye-opening. Stuff like pyrophoric silane is bad enough, but we also use a surprising amount of HF. Every eye wash station has little pucks of calcium glucanate. The internal lessons learned database is full of HF exposures.

Holy poo poo. According to Reddit

quote:

In one gripping vignette made from a low angle a German soldier is knocked down by a Mark IV tank and run over. "The second unit was responsible for this shot," says Koenekamp. "Actually, the man fell down accidentally. He was not a stuntman but a Spanish soldier. Apparently, he stopped to cock his rifle and the tank hit him enough to knock him down. The tank kept going but the treads somehow managed to miss the man by inches. He got a torn jacket and was very lucky." This shot was made from a pit and is a good example of the excellent material the second unit contributed to Patton.

It's dramatic enough to miss that "dead" soldier on the right put his helmet back on.

Hmm, why was there a camera to shoot the close up? Or was that done later for more intensity.

Maybe they wanted a shot of the tank rolling over the camera and it was a coincidence? It kinda seems like he goes down the same way in the wide poo poo and the close-up, so I'm not sure they'd reshoot that, but who knows.

You can see the treadmarks where the tank has been going back and forth over the same ground for a bunch of takes. Presumably there's a camera in a pit just outside of the wide-angle.

I remember watching whatever episode of Sharpe this was and thinking this looked like an accident

https://youtu.be/1t1KMkr14tU

Sure enough:

quote:

"I've never really hurt myself badly. I suppose the closest I've ever been to an accident is in Sharpe's Regiment, when a horse landed on my head. They actually used that take. The bank collapsed and the horse's hoof sort of sprung off my head as he was jumping. I got a bit of a black eye and a bit of a neck problem. And about six hours before I were in the hospital getting me finger stitched up because I'd just cut that open...."

He pauses to show me which finger.

"And then in the afternoon the horse landed on my head. That were close 'cos I watched it back, and it were a bit iffy...."

He pauses again as he reflects on the gravity of what might have been - the realisation that if the horse's hoof had landed anywhere else on his head, he might actually have been killed.

Spare me the Sean Bean death jokes though
