I sincerely doubt that they somehow didn't anticipate people making horny adventurer plates, and their solution to overly explicit ones is likely the same as most other player-centric issues in the game: report them and GMs will sort it out. I'm not against people embracing their sexuality, but I do think a certain level of reasonable social discretion is warranted.

Probably not deliberately so, but still: there are people who don't want stuff like that shoved in their face. The thing is, that's displayed up front: between the actual rating given the game and the sort of content that pops up in the first bit of the story, you know what to expect, and it never gets to more than that. But there's a big difference between double entendres and an Oglaf page, and if you don't understand that there is or why people might be fine with one and not the other, shut up, listen, and learn until you do.

Like, one could very, very, very easily miss the very charged relationship between Aenor and the Boulder Bros because a lot of that stuff is both incidental and buried in dialogue. FFXIV has never been the type of game with open-in-your-face hi-jinks like "G'raha Tia falls over and accidentally grabs Alisae's breasts and gets slapped for it!!", so it's not quite hard to see why people might not be 100% receptive to some of these plates with that same brand of humor
