There are many instances of the major record labels wanting to have their cake and eat it too so having it blow up in their face is kinda funny, but also the people who end up being dragged through the mud are the artists. Say what you will about Ed Sheeran but I think he’s proven himself a talented enough songwriter that this lawsuit was kind of absurd on its face, and now he’s going to be recording all of his songwriting sessions just in case it happens again. Also since this is a safe space no judgements i think Photograph is one of my favorite love songs and it’s a shame he hadn’t written any as good since. Even if he can’t say “Sixth Street”

I’m super bummed I missed CRJ at Coachella but I can’t imagine a better excuse than the one I had edit: I’ll have more to say later but Olivia is a god drat rock star and the show was amazing. Did I feel a little old? Probably, but honestly there were plenty of adults and also once it started I completely stopped caring because as it turns out Sour is mostly bangers and she led off with Brutal and Jealousy Jealousy and she had the crowd bouncing the whole time. I still very distinctly remember the first time I heard Driver’s License and thinking “sure ok this is pretty good but I dunno why everyone is freaking out” and then each successive thing that came out got better and better and more self-assured and this tour feels like the final form of this era. The songs have a bit more weight to them live, even my least favorites (1 step forward and enough for you, which she performed together, a good call to keep the show’s energy up) I knew every word and everyone else knew every word and there was never a lull. The only song the crowd didn’t know was the second cover (the kids knew Avril but not Veruca Salt) and that one was even harder and louder than Brutal, so the energy was still way up. She’s very special and I cannot wait for whatever she does next. She could do anything, truly. She could go full riot girl, full Taylor Swift, full Avril Lavigne, or something unique to her.
