"Ah," Ratz had said, at last, "the artiste."
Minxx finished its season and its fine. A perfectly watchable show about a women's magazine being financed by a pornographer in the 1970s and the wacky missteps they made along the way. Also: several large dicks

Now watching Mr. Robot after only seeing the first season forever ago and I like how overly cartoony it gets with stuff like the Knight Rider intro, I have no idea what the cultural impact of it was supposed to be and I'm suspecting it's not going to stick the landing (currently in S3) but it's a pretty good ride so far~

The pottery show has a new season on HBO. Lots of cute stuff in the first ep.

Also, we watched a few of Old enough on Netflix. It is toddlers doing a task on their own. We turn the volume down and just read the subtitles.

Yeah I liked the first two episodes of moon knight better than most Disney shows and felt like the action/effects were exactly in line with the other mcu shows (which are all an obvious step down from the movies)

What a horrible thread to have a post.
I think Moon Knight's CGI is of varying quality, sometimes it looks great and sometimes it doesn't. In episode 3 the rooftop fight scene looked pretty bad, but the sky scene looked really cool, for instance.

The suit usually looks a bit rough most of the time, but I'm surprised they got it looking even occasionally decent in live action. It's one of those looks that really only works for comics.

I like him but I think pretty much everything else about the show is bad. I wish they could have found a better comic book to adapt to put him in or something.

There's been some behind the scenes stuff and both Oscar Isaac and Ethan Hawke didn't want to do anything Marvel until they were given a bunch of scenery to chew and a relatively minor hero/villain that they could put their stamp on. That's why the latest episode ended with a Hawke monologue about villainy and redemption and why Isaac switched personalities in-camera, it's just fun stuff for them to do.

Ethan Hawke famously talked poo poo about Marvel until Oscar Isaac (his neighbor IRL) approached him and was like "come on man be in my show, we can act together, it will be a fun collaboration".

It's also very telling that Isaac has not signed on for more Moon Knight. So if you don't like it, it's no big deal. Oscar and Ethan got a big payday, old Moon Knight fans like me got to see Disney blow 160 million dollars on a z-list character, and you will get to rejoice when Disney doesn't renew it and spends the money on Wandavision 2: The Rerun or something.

Disney already submitted Hawkeye, WandaVision and Moon Knight for Emmy awards consideration as limited series, so second seasons of them are unlikely. (Unlike Loki, which was submitted as a regular drama series, and the second season of that is filming already.)

I don't know the rules but even if that is an issue it seems like it would be an incredibly easy thing to work around if they felt like it just by making it a new series about Moon Knight with a different name (probably a crossover thing since they like doing that poo poo)

Award submissions don't commit them to never doing another season. Like “Big Little Lies” which won a lot of limited series awards and then got another season. But Wanda's story seems to be continuing in Dr. Strange while Echo and maybe a Kate Bishop series will be the successor to Hawkeye.

It's amazing what they can do with computers these days.

HBO max changed their UI on appletv and apparently you can’t add things to your list anymore. The button to add or remove things to your list just doesn’t exist. Good job guys.

HBOMax is probably the best streaming service but it's insane how bad every decision they make with their UI is. They don't do the thing every other streaming service does where they make it uglier, they just make it completely impossible to do the thing you actually want to do, like being able to pause.

It's not that I necessarily like Netflix's system that much, but it's so much better than HBO's. At least with Netflix I can gently caress around in one of their little categories pretty easily, even if they occasionally insist that I'd like to watch Hush because I liked Bob's Burgers. With HBO it either needs to be on my list, a new series or one of the month's highlights. If not, then congrats, you can just browse through every movie in a broad genre through a laggy app.

Good for whom? Every streaming service already gets great metrics for their original content by obscuring discoverability to drive you to their highest profile new releases. You'll keep subscribing whether they give you personalization and customization controls or not, but this way they can also juice all the right numbers for their quarterly reports.

I love Isaac, hawke and some of the moon knight comics but yeah the show blows. Like others have said I can’t believe how bad some of the cg and backgrounds look. I think it was a good decision to start with Steve instead of Marc to add some comic relief but then they made Khonshu a little too silly, it’s basically trying to copy what they did with Venom.

The suit design gives me 1997 live-action Spawn vibes, but in white. I think that's why I'm so fond of it, lol. The mask even comes on in pretty similar fashion.

But yes, the CG and action in Moon Knight is pretty lol through 3 episodes. Oscar Issac is crazy good though. Very middling show at best for me.

It’s wild that there’s a new Scream movie out but none of the other scream movies are available for streaming.

Makes about as much sense as HBO max having all the nightmare movies except for part 4 and paramount having all the Friday the 13th movies except for parts 3 and 4.
