Stephen Root was never in Angel, so I'm guessing OP is thinking of Keith Szarabajka.

Mooseontheloose posted:No movie studio was going to market Stephen Root in 1998. right but the point that got stephen root mentioned wasn't that office space was being marketed as including him (that was jennifer aniston), but that it wasn't an indie movie of complete nobodies otherwise. 1998 stephen root is an effective refutation to that.

There's an episode of Your Pretty Face is Going to Hell where Dustin Diamond is shanked in prison and goes to hell. Which kind of is a little more depressing now that he's actually dead.

One of the funniest bits is the episode where Troy and Eddie are competing to become demons and then like 3/4 of the way through all of a sudden the fourth wall is broken with the actors Eddie and Dana fighting about who wouldn't be a demon because the makeup sucked.

With every movie that seeks financing, the cast’s fame or lack thereof is a consideration- even studio films are basically bought as deals and having people signed to them makes the deal more attractive. This is why some movies go into production before the script is finished, when you’ve signed actors they’re committing to being available for a certain period of time. And even actors that aren’t on Bruce Willis’ level can be seen as added value to distributors and exhibitors. Alec Guinness in Star Wars wasn’t the draw he used to be but it helped Fox and Lucas. Sylvester Stallone insisted on playing the lead in Rocky so okay we’ll also have Burgess Meredith in the cast.

I once saw a scooter ad starring Iggy Pop. I thought it was weird seeing a man who is pretty vocal about being a pedophile advertising a scooter. He even wrote a sad breakup song about being dumped by a thirteen year old. I feel like I might have posted about it before but mentioning him brought it back into my mind.

He even played a character trying to order a child prostitute in the Tank Girl movie, but she ends up using a gimmicked ball of treasure inside her plastic lunch box to shank his hand and escape. Underrated movie, tbh.

There's more examples than I care to look up and I don't feel like getting put on a watchlist, so I'll just say that even the women of old rock were getting in on it. The loving Beatles went there.
