You should try watching the UK dashcam videos, it's just an endless stream of morons who can't drive sending in footage of them getting into near miss situations and accidents. I'm constantly stunned by how many of the cammers risk death purely to get footage to send in. Either that or they have absolutely minimal hazard perception. Either way I share roads with these dangerous arseholes and they're the prime reason I would like mandatory re-testing every 5 years and licenses revoking.

Being an absolute flop is excusable because he has a dash cam to record the transgression which makes him right?

Theres piles of roundabout ones as well which at least in my part of Australia are very much give way to traffic already in the roundabout.

had a little time to kill while waiting on a flight so I did some research and figured out the crash location - the intersection of Anderson Ave and Spy Run Ave in Fort Wayne, IN.

its a 3-lane one-way avenue. 35MPH speed limit and not heavily policed so assume actual traffic speeds are +10

I see more people stop on or past the stop bar than stop at the proper location. My favorite is when they are in a left turn lane and stop completely past the stop bar and are no longer on the sensor so they don't get a protected left turn. The intersection doesn't know you're there if you stop on the wrong side of the stop line, ya dummy!

Yup. 12 years local delivery in Tampa Bay. Late night/early morning driving on some of the most dangerous roads in America. They do that pretty often. So often the configurable displays tell you, "Wrong Way Driver. Exercise Caution!"

Two going across the Howard Frankland bridge, one on SR60 in Brandon, one on North Dale Mabry Hwy, one entering an off ramp in Pinellas Park from 118th (I got that one to stop), and the one dude who fell asleep and launched his Neon across the median and almost speared my truck in the driver's door.

Dunno what to tell you. Drive something big, keep your head on a swivel, go right, and don't hesitate to just stop on the side of the road with headlights and flashers on.

Combine people who shouldn't be driving with lovely infrastructure (both lack of transit options and bad roadway geometry), and you'll have the the mistakes bad drivers make amplified to be super deadly.

This on ramp design is a confirmed killer. I'm not sure how many victims it's taken over the years, but I know it's been more than one. I guess it's more vital the Burger King occupies that corner instead of a northbound on ramp from the westbound lanes.

It's because they wanted to drive through that space since going wide takes too much effort, and you ruined their lazy turn by very rudely existing there.

I see people use that spot as part of the turning arc all of the time if nobody is there, just casually driving on the wrong side of the road.

I just got back from a trip that took about 5 hours longer than it was supposed to I think. And it was already a long drive. We got very close to a town on the interstate before they closed it starting at that town. The detour had significant backtracking, then snow, then an accident, rain, more snow....

This was after our driver sped down some two lane roads with about 6" of shoulders, no guardrails and unsigned turns. I was ready to be home.

I hate not being in control, and also having no or little influence over the situation. To me, if we're getting home after midnight because of a detour, there's no reason to hurry anymore. It's not like I could still make family dinner or something, once you're five hours late who, cares if it goes to six? I gave a little monologue and I think it helped.

I also didn't like that we were in a little convoy, but mostly because the route we took wasn't reccomended by any navigation. Probably it's faster though if you are going 80 in a 40!

I couldn't believe there was such a business case for so many of these guys to be running around on the company dime. But then one of the comments reminded me that this was the 90's, and these guys were replaced by websites in the 00's.

About a year ago I called up Vision Engineering and arranged for their traveling salesman to give a demo at my tiny startup the next time they were in my city. We did not have a direct business reason to buy a 3D inspection microscope. But on the other hand, are you really a cool tech R&D lab without a fancy-pants microscope on your bench?

This was a case where I, the engineering technician guy, knew this particular piece of kit would sell itself once the boss got to play with it. Doesn't even matter that there wasn't an immediate business use.

The plan worked great and it's become one of the most useful instruments in the lab. I use it for electronic soldering inspection. Boss uses it for cleaning optical assemblies and sensors. This particular microscope benefits a lot from an in-person demo, because the website doesn't do it justice. It's absolutely jaw-dropping, Star Trek-level tech, for like $2,300.

Best general use lense is the 4x. The 8x has a much smaller 'sweet spot'.

The 4x lens sweet spot is so large, and the lens relief is so huge, we don't even use a microscope stage to hold the object. Just hold it in your hand and move it closer or farther to focus, until the image 'pops'. Really, the optics are that good.

The entire device is just lenses and mirrors. The only part that uses electricity is the LED ring light.
