Prickly City is a great example of what a Libertarian writer paying a Libertarian artist rock-bottom dollar produces. It is, in some ways, a perfect demonstration of why Libertarianism is a dead-end philosophical outlook- this is what the art looks like when you produce it in a fully Libertarian framework. Neither person wants to put in more than the effort that is absolutely bare-minimum required to get the other person's work across the line, and neither of them see the venture as anything more than an unsteady paycheck. Stantis didn't pay Allie to be an artist, he paid him for a few hours of extruded clip art product that could be easily re-used and recycled. He writes the first thing that seems almost like a joke (it's not funny, but it has the cadence of something that would be), paint-buckets the background, throws the characters in, and clocks out for the day. Allie doesn't even get an art credit. This is the art they want to enforce on everyone else.

that's actually less depressing than the alternative, which is that one or both of them genuinely believes they are making an insightful work of good art

So, to recap this Prickly City "storyline" so far, Carmen whines about how the Democrats and the Republicans are mean and crazy and don't get anything done. She decides to run as the Libertarian candidate, and for like ten thousand strips it's a bunch of reiterating this point, after which she does things like knock on doors and get them slammed in her face, whine about having to work, whine about needing money to run for office (lol), whine about having no money, whine about people not giving a poo poo, etc etc. Hillary Hunny Bunny and whoever the hell Kevin rabbit is supposed to be these days turn up on a billboard looking evil for who knows what reason for about...three strips, then vanish and are not brought up again. A lizard who is apparently their friend but who the hell knows who he is, not me, is running against them. Oh noes. Then Putin snake shows up out of loving nowhere and bombs their campaign headquarters, fucks off, and they whine about how he's derailed their campaign/storyline (get hosed forever, Stantis, holy poo poo), after which their campaign headquarters are inexplicably intact again and this is forgotten about, except for one of the random Sunday strips that are unattached to any storyline where Carmen and Winslow look sad in a vague sort of way. There's some more whining about having to work and needing money. Libertarian debates occur, in which Carmen continues her campaign strategy of saying absolutely nothing that might be interpreted as some sort of political position (though she briefly tries not to openly agree with the lizard about how government doesn't work). Carmen thinks she did a great job. Time for the primaries! Let's try to drum up support by standing with a sign on an empty road.

But no, turns out Bennett just loving sucks and made a lovely metaphor. Charlz Guybon posted:Maybe read the news once in a while? Russia suffered a crushing defeat in the battle of Kyiv and retreated from all their northern gains. To add insult to injury, Ukraine just sank the Black Sea Flagship. The problem is that this isn't the same as completely and utterly defeating Russia, as noted by the fact that Russia is now sending an even larger force. I'm well aware Ukraine has had some great victories, but they still haven't won until Putin gives up (or the Russian government is disbanded). Since neither of those happened, that's why I was confused, since that would be necessary for a "checkmate." Again, I'm stupid, I admit this, but I don't think its hard to see how I would be confused by a cartoon saying "Ukraine has completely defeated Russia" when they have not in fact completely defeated Russia. Admittedly that could have been Russian propaganda, since I didn't verify the source. Most of the major veteran army forces maintained by Russia were already deployed to Ukraine, and have suffered sufficient losses to lose unit cohesion. The recent multi-mile convoy has already been the subject of repeated, severe drone and missile attacks, the same as the last time it was attempted. It has reached the point where Russia would need to perform a general mobilization (politically disastrous) or rely heavily on minimally trained conscripts to flesh out its forces, and this is after dropping several axes of attack.

Morrison hand picked the candidate for Tony Abbott's old seat whose political history apparently is entirely transphobic views. Given said seat kicked out Abbott because they thought he was too conservative it means that seat is almost certainly lost and the only apparent reason for picking Deves is to inject transphobia as a topic into the election campaign.
