His "craftsmanship" has been featured in my thread. Like the time he mixed S4 and S5 parts in the Red 92 RHD engine, then blamed the customer when the motor exploded after 30 min later. Or the time he "converted" a 88 GXL to fuel injection, by JBwelding the injector holes kinda shut, folding+zip tying bare wires into pins, and using JB weld to "rebuild" the carb. Also the same fantastic gentleman who took money from the local rotary club to build a motor for weekend racing, which lasted 30 minutes.... And then did the exact same thing to three other local rotary race teams. 0/10 - would not touch it with a 10ft pole.

And of course 'upgraded' to Mercedes Benz for cheaper servicing, in which we found a equally weird old mechanic for that.

It a special edition of a good car that they made 1400 of and has 123 miles on it. I don't think it's representative of how much S2000s sell for now.

I’ve only driven it around 550 miles since it was last inspected in May of ‘21, due to working out of town several days a week since September . I normally put about 1500-2000 miles on it a year.

Every single seal, gasket, belt, and hose on a car built in 2009 is going to need to be replaced. 2009 was 13 years ago. I have no idea why BaT bidders don't understand this.

I bought a Ranger and then drove it with my girlfriend from Seattle to Redwood NP, then to Crater Lake NP and then home, playing disc golf, looking at sea lions and drinking beers along the way. 1200 miles on this trip and about 4k total now. The truck is comfortable enough and has no trouble getting to trail heads. Having said that, I'll keep my GX for a bit. The automatic transfer case is taking some getting used to and it will bottom out on deeper creek crossings. Flipside is that it's got no problem going 80 all day and feels pretty tight. Has enough safety stuff that's easy enough to turn off. Pretty basic, kinda boring rig that can tow some stuff and haul a little. Exactly what I was wanting and I'm happy with it, but the 320hp, 355tq tune is calling my name and the price can't be beat.

hot cocoa on the couch posted:me daily driving a car built in 1982 with a whole bunch of original rubber in it: With so little miles on it yeah its true. 1996 Toyota Celica GT-Four, 188k~ kilometers, but maintained. I got it, checked the fluids, changed the oil, replaced a few suspension components (lower stabilizer bushings, end links, and the right side camber control arm), charged the AC but otherwise ran it hard in the Florida heat with zero problems. My wife took it this weekend out garage saling, lots of low speed stop and go business. It most certainly has not had 'all' its rubber replaced, nor gaskets. Tonight it was sold and the guy drove it 3~ hours across the state. No longer mine, but it was this morning The vehicles I deal in are over 25 years old as a rule and that's just how it is. Run machine, maintain machine. KakerMix fucked around with this message at 07:55 on Apr 25, 2022 |

Be it for me to gate-keep who is allowed (and because I am a part of the problem, really) but it's really, really hard to not grit your teeth at posers running into cool vehicle zones and simply trying to buy 'cool'. What happened to Harleys and muscle cars is happening to everything now, something that's earned it's cool through a more or less natural process now is commoditized and speculated by all the people you don't want in your community whatever it is. It's been said before but if you have something cool, think really long and hard before you part with it. Expect you'll never have 'it' ever again.
