Norwegian went for "curly alpha", which is kind of boring but also makes a bit of sense. On a completely unrelated note I've been setting up tape backup at work, and so far I enjoy the sounds and clunky physical presence of the LTO tape and cartridges more than I expected - it's nice when the things I do actually feel like part of the real world instead of just text in a terminal. I'm sure I'll run into something frustrating about it eventually, but for now it's neat.

a bunch of languages use the same word for monkey and ape i thinkWikipedia posted:"Ape", from Old English apa, is a word of uncertain origin. The term has a history of rather imprecise usage—and of comedic or punning usage in the vernacular. Its earliest meaning was generally of any non-human anthropoid primate, as is still the case for its cognates in other Germanic languages. Later, after the term "monkey" had been introduced into English, "ape" was specialized to refer to a tailless (therefore exceptionally human-like) primate. Thus, the term "ape" obtained two different meanings, as shown in the 1911 Encyclopædia Britannica entry: it could be used as a synonym for "monkey" and it could denote the tailless human-like primate in particular.

The last company I worked for had what looked like that same model. I helped set it up, move and deployed it at conferences, and ran it for some of our video streams of corporate meetings. It would totally handle hd video, 1080p if I remember right.

I'm sure I've mentioned my old MS stuff but found this boxed one that I KNOW I spent $500 to buy. It was specially ordered for my by the local Dick Smith Electronics, and the day it arrived, I spent my money on a police scanner and they were NOT happy I didn't pony up the money for it. Obviously I bought it the next week - and BONUS! Got a job there! EDIT: Checked whats on the MS: Some HardStyle and 'Skazi' Humphreys has a new favorite as of 14:46 on Apr 23, 2022 |
