it feels like the writing is leaning much more on her eccentricity/non sequitur/hyperactive traits to not have to have the plot make any sense. i have an ep left but it didn't charm me the way the first season did

e: but yeah it at least doesn't feel like they bait and switched with a wb show like altered carbon
yeah hopefully maybe the last few eps wow me but it doesn't sound like it. it definitely leans extremely heavily on her acting wacky and cool in lieu of much else. which to be fair, she's fun to watch, but also yeah

Witcher S2 was good IMO but def not as big as S1. Didn't even really get a big chance to settle into a Monster-of-the-Week-plus-overarching-plot pattern it looked like there would be in S2E1 (which was probably the strongest one IMO), didn't have a huge battle scene or an equivalent to the Blaviken fight from S1 either, but I'm enjoying the narrative and probably won't read the books so I hope they keep making it

Although I do identify with Henry, or at least I identify with the fact that he's secretly addicted to "special coal" and ashamed of it, as seen here:

Frasier pays for his luxurious penthouse by forming parasocial relationships with & responsibilizing emotionally/mentally unwell people via a for-profit radio show that makes a spectacle of individual suffering.

Frasier did one experimental thing, they had Eddie the dog talk and make a bunch of quips, but you had to have captions on to "hear" what he was saying. It was really groundbreaking honestly and I wish more shows had replicated that

how can we not talk about family
when family's all that we got?
Living in the ocean, the water would filter out most of the UV rays that led to humans living in the tropics with excess melanin production in their skin outcompeting those with lighter shades. conversely, humanoids living underwater would have much more lightly colored skin to aid in vitamin D absorption. So not only is the new Little Mermaid reverse racist - and implicitly endorsing redhead genocide - but it's scientifically inaccurate.

Also I just rewatched Gattaca for the first time in ~20 years and liked it. Judd Law was perfect casting (just like The Talented Mr. Ripley) and everyone in it is equally beautiful, set designs were very 90s and it worked very well for the tone (like Dark City). A very nice, compact, bookish, and dystopian film. It's not socialist but it was good. Also reading about it afterward is how I learned Gore Vidal was bisexual.

last time i watched gattaca the constant narration drove me crazy its the most useless narration ive ever seen because it just explains exactly what we see happening on screen nothing more and nothing less like its trying to function as an aid for blind people

by contrast ive always had a soft spot for harrison fords narration in the original cut of blade runner since it really nails how his character is an idiot assassin who thinks hes a badass noir detective

same. i mean it WAS lazily done but i actually kinda liked it and with maybe a little more enthusiam or effort it could have been good. the version without it is also good too though.

anyways gattaca was pretty decent but i feel it's also brain poisoned a whole generation of libs.
