How about an Isekai where the MC cheat ability is a Gutenberg Press that they use to disseminate information to the feudal populace. As they educate people, it levels up to be a high-output modern press and they start using paper as a weapon for some silly fight and/or spreading the obscure weaknesses of their enemies quickly. I call it Read or Isekai

Hello. I have sought out this thread in order to share my realization that Mazinger U.S.A. (1988) by Go Nagai is technically an isekai. Goodbye.

Yeah the whole basis of the plot of the first one is to try to get home to their college that their Dungeon Master sent them from. The whole anti-slavery thing comes in and expands in the later books but the MC still frees a few in the first one. Unfortunately the author's books are no longer in print after he died a while ago.

the first book was an absolutely generic isekai story, but old enough that it might have inspired some of the cliches. still, 'pnp rpg gamers travel to a different world where they become their game characters' is a really obvious concept. then the later books got kind of weird. i'm not sure how well the series holds up now.

I just remembered the Wiz Biz series (https://www.fictiondb.com/series/the-wiz-biz-rick-cook~10189.htm) which involves a late 80s programmer getting isekaid into a classic western fantasy setting and obviously turns out magic is like programming. I recall it being goofy fun but it was some years ago so I'm not sure how it holds up.

If we're going to post 80s western isekai there's the Spellsinger series. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spellsinger It's a comedy series by Alan Dean Foster that relies on a lot of music pun stuff (the MC sings and magic happens) and is on the goofier side of things.

Yup, this is also the first dark fantasy I remember reading, so it got burned in my memory. warning, lots of spoilers They have a friend who was playing a rogue, who immediately on coming to the fantasy world tries to pickpocket a noble and fails, and dies horribly with a spear to the chest. Then they all get captured by slavers later on, and the two female party members get repeatedly raped by all the slavers. Their dwarf friend dies by dragon fire right when they are getting back home, and comes thru the portal back to earth, as a burnt corpse. So many bad things happen to them. I know the MC even gets killed later, I think while fighting more slavers from the slaving guild, as they are very powerful on this world, and hire assassins to take him out.. There is cool stuff though, like how one of the party members is an engineering student and brings his books with him, and so starts a new engineering guild, and make gunpowder and trains. They became so powerful with their technology they can create their own community free of slavery.

I mean, Harry Potter is basically isekai. Loser with no skills is suddenly brought to another magical world where everyone loves him for reasons that have nothing to do with anything he's done. Edit: Also slavery, obviously.

Yes I have so far written 7 pages of stories and I am almost done with chapter 2. I have also written and drawn 18 pages of ideas, plot outlines, geographic information, cultural information, technology information, and countries information. Like I wrote how a nomadic nation named The Golden Horde was renamed the Golden Commune because a anarchist radical exiles (from a nation called Socialist Workers Republic of the plains, formerly Kingdom of the Golden Plains_ influenced its leader, named The Golden One, to brake up his armies into communes and found a city, Asbecome, in the north shore of Lake Sha'vul an inland fresh water sea. Is this nation involved in the story? No because they are on the other side of the Spine, a massive mountain range where the numerous Dwarven City states can be found...
