I think I still have that comic sitting around somewhere. It was one of the first comics I bought myself because Carnage was rad as hell to child me. Looking back I can tell I was absolutely loving right.

Yeah the comic was definitely referring to Doom, same horn shape I think same monster too. That said, that did not originate with Doom, there's a wealth of movies and pulp stories that have people sounding horns to summon up monsters.
