Elon wants to be David Xanatos but at the end of the day he can only rewatch Gargoyles, then keep checking to see if anyone has found a castle wyvern anywhere that he can buy.

I think it's hilarious looking back how Xanatos was portrayed as the most dangerous and evil mastermind in the series because he used his vast wealth and influence to sometimes dress up in a robotic combat suit and engage in the occasional act of antiquities theft. Looking back on it now, doesn't that seem positively quaint? That, back in the 90s, the most despicable thing a billionaire could get up to was having a punch-up with a half-dozen mythological beasts over a magical book? We sat in our living rooms going, "Hit him again, Broadway! Dammit, he's the real monster here!"

Whereas now, I look at it and think, "It seems like he offers employees a pretty good benefits package and pays well over the market average." I'm not saying that he's a nice guy or anything, but 1) he paid to fix the collateral damage he caused, 2) he actually served the entirety of his prison sentence behind bars, and 3) he was only responsible for two genuinely heinous genetic experiments--only one of which was performed on a human being. I'm just saying, between David Xanatos and Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk, I don't think the guy with ponytail is the one we gotta worry about.

I didn't know he was a CHUD either?

Anyway, I actually saw a clip on YouTube from Steve-O's podcast with Malcolm and he claimed this whole thing was not true.

He said he had/has some kind of chronic headache problem that was causing him issues but that it wasn't causing him to forget things, he said he couldn't remember doing some episodes of the show because A. he was young and B. he did like lie a million of them, and somehow people ran away with these two things, combined them, and just made a bunch of assumptions.

After spending like three days engaging with a Trump supporter online about Disney and Florida, he shared his second article gloating about how DeSantis OWNED those EVIL PERVERT DEMONCRATS by saying that Disney would pay its share of taxes after its special tax status was revoked and also by . . . no, that's it, saying that thing was the only thing DeSantis did. It was such a meaningless thing to make a big deal over. But I'd just read this line from the Estranged Parents site (http://www.issendai.com/psychology/estrangement/reasons-for-estrangement.html):

quote:

The result is that estranged parents' communities lack community wisdom about dealing with adult children who are mentally ill, addicted, abused by their spouses, etc., all problems that by the members' own accounts contributed to a substantial number of estrangements. In place of the missing knowledge is a rich and varied body of knowledge about how to self-soothe: how to stop obsessing over the estranged child, and how to feel less guilty, rejected, and worthless.

So that sort of explained why this guy kept coming back just to insult me like some of my horrible sixth-grade classmates: to him, owning the libs isn't about reality, it's about feeling better about himself. If liberals are wrong, he is right. If liberals are dumb, he is smart. If liberals are perverts, he is normal. If liberals are evil, then everything he does is noble and virtuous, like the ending of Mean Girls in reverse. And now that I've had that insight, I don't care anymore about the conversation. Also found a Bloomberg article with some good links. Disney is going to have a field day in court over this.

He also told me to "do your own research" and I never know what to say when people say that, because I'm a librarian.

I mean to be far, Xanatos did a whole lotta hosed up stuff (like having people kidnaped and experimented on) but social media didn't exist in the 90's. If the show was out today, he'd be running a few social media sites that opposed each other just for all the data.

poo poo, I remember a throwaway line from a Transformers show where a Decepticon was trying to locate a human, and was amazed that said human and all of his family had their jobs, photos, and locations all on social media.

Remember when Arpaio showed up at Nick Fuentes’s white supremacist conference and it went something like this:

Arpaio: “People say I’m racist…”

Audience: “Yay!”

Arpaio: “…but I’m not racist!”

Audience: “Booooo!”

I think that was earlier this year.

Trevor Noah on Fox News

quote:

How about that Fox primetime lineup? Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, and Laura Ingraham,” he said. “Their coverage of Covid was really impactful. Their segments about vaccines moved their viewers – into the ICU.”

He then congratulated Hannity on becoming the longest-running host in cable news history, and noted Hannity’s romantic relationship with Fox & Friends cohost Ainsley Earhardt.

“I actually think it’s beautiful to see an office romance at Fox that won’t end in at $20 million settlement,” he joked. “I’m sure wherever Roger Ailes is right now, he’s looking up and smiling.”

He then turned to Ingraham and Carlson.
“Laura Ingram. Wow. What can you say about her that hasn’t already been said by the Anti-Defamation League? Powerful. I’m just said that Tucker Carlson isn’t here. He’s my favorite. What a talent. Tucker Carlson, are you kidding me? That man’s a beast who else could fill an entire show each night asking questions that Google could easily answer? ‘Do vaccines work? Who really won the election? Who is the president right now? Is this America?’ Gripping stuff.”
