Truly I do often feel like there should be a separate thread just for people who are currently playing Higurashi/Umineko and people who want to cheerlead/popcorn them through it. It comes up a LOT and leads to a LOT of posts that have to be skipped through for those of us who haven't played yet. In the years I've been reading this thread I don't think I've seen any other titles so routinely lead to dozens of unreadable posts and wild tripmines.

I've just finished off Ep3 of Umineko as of last night here (barring post-episode stuff anyway), so I'll hold off on any big talk on it just in case in folks do want a thread for When They Cry stuff. I've been following along with the Higurashi LP thread for the purposes of seeing fresh takes on it though, so I'd be down for one at least. I'll sum things up as "pretty sick, I have no loving idea what's going on" at least though!

I didn't tear up at any part in Little Busters. Not even Refrain but that Sasami route... drat, it got me 50 hours in or whatever and I'm still doing batting practice. I genuinely love this minigame. I toss on a podcast or Youtube video or whatever and just vibe to 40 pitches with my pals

I think the closest it gets to being weird is like. one of the [you died] endings is an out of place jellyfish monster girl but she's not a character at all so once that danger is past its just. gone. lol

I still finished it because, well, my partner got the collectors edition for me for our anni and I felt bad but like. wow. Man, I have no idea how anybody could possibly know how to do Saya's route in LB! without a guide. The stuff you have to do - like purposefully picking bad options so you die and repeat, or walking into the same trap room every single run until dialogue starts repeating for every single dungeon floor - is on par with Mew rumors from Pokemon RBY Maybe it was meant to be spread via word of mouth on playgrounds or whatever, but I dunno, I'd probably assume they were trolling Saya rules tho. It's a really fun route, even if it sorta destroys the 'rules' of the world

If the Japanese owners licensed it to someone else there'd be a 99% chance everything would be fine and a 1% chance of massive lawsuits. Capcom did that in Breath of Fire 4 which was a very beautiful game with a great soundtrack but I'm not sure how well the story worked Despite playing as the final boss he wasn't super developed as a character

Playing through Rewrite+ and it’s the quickest I’ve been hooked on a Key game. Intriguing plot elements start happening very early into the game, and there’s less SOL moments. Seems more plot driven than their others. Also the protagonist is a bit of a smart rear end and can be hilarious at times. Edit: finished the common route.
