Nope, lets just settle on Supreme Court precedent, because those can never change right? Again, what reality are you living in where you believe a law passed protecting abortion would survive a radical surpreme court? The only way you'll prevent that is to have control over the bench, and that doesn't happen if you don't have the WH or the Senate. Stacking the court ain't going to happen because you have useless Dems like Manchin and Sinema.

Maybe this is super cynical but actually (assuming the leaked opinion stands, which is not a safe assumption) having abortion get banned right before the midterms is probably good for the democrats, who can run on "we'll fight to restore abortion rights" which is far more compelling and likely to turn out votes than "we passed a big infrastructure bill that everyone immediately forgot about because we failed to pass the social spending bill due to joe manchin, alleged democrat, being an evil lying rear end in a top hat, but please also don't replace him with a republican" which was the only script apparently available to them till now. Midterms are notoriously low-turnout, and being angry about a genuine outrage results in far more turnout than having some vague and unconvincing pablum about what you'll accomplish next term. I think the supreme court overturning roe v wade gives every pro-choice dem running in a tough congressional district across the country a specific thing to hammer on. 70% of americans support abortion rights. Lastly: what we always needed was a constitutional amendment guaranteeing abortion rights, and roe v wade made that politically impossible for fifty years. I don't see it happening soon, and a lot of people are going to get hurt badly (or die via coathanger) in the interim, but I do have a sliver of hope that in the long run, we'll be able to actually secure real abortion rights. Roe v Wade didn't really do that, it was a shaky, kinda BS opinion from the outset that was eternally at risk from any conservative court.

I'm thinking about kids in the next 4-5 years so I don't want to go that route yet but horrible uterine issues run in the family so it's definitely something that's been brought up. My grandma who passed had one at 35 because she was bleeding in to the muscle of the uterus and had severe fibroids and my mom's been recommended for one since she had my 2nd brother at 24 but never did go through it.

Man, I could've used my software update. Wife tested positive for Covid Saturday thanks to visiting what turned out to be a Covid carrying coworker to help out after an accident. Two weeks ago I went to a scheduled booster appointment where they refused to give me the shot because it's only for the "severely immunocompromised according to the CDC" and my arthritis drugs don't qualify me. They were wrong but that does me zero good at the moment as a perpetually masked single parent.

The Democrats have spent the last like 15 years or so running on, “not being Republicans”. They barely care about passing legislation anymore as long as the republicans are always doing something awful they can run against. When I say Democrats, I really just mean the party leadership. There are some Dems out there trying to get real stuff passed, but it always dies on the vine.

I tried everything last year too, and our exterminator found some holes I missed and plugged them but we need to rip out the drop cieling in the basement, and the insulation in it, to really find out how much we're dealing with. I'm dreading it and finally decided to just hire a contractor to do it but not sure if they have specialists for that kind of thing or what. Immigration is a funny one for the Republicans where the business side of the party loves immigration because it's cheaper labor, while the racist side hates immigration for obvious reasons. I'm still a little surprised the racists are winning out on that one since I figured the business side had the bigger checks.
