Just about every family who was in power at the start of the show is still in power, and the closest thing the show had to a unabashed good guy (and the rightful king!) gets sold out by his family and peers after doing their dirty work, because it's politically convenient for everyone else. Meanwhile millions of people died in a years-long war that didn't really change much. I'm sad that most people seemingly didn't notice all of this. That cynicism was something that the show leaned into heavily at the beginning but had mostly gotten away from by the end when it became a fairly cut and dry good vs evil thing. All the people who are bitter at GRRM for not making another book, will like it. General audiences are still pissed at ending of the first show, so they'll skip. My folks watched the Avatar movie at home one time, and noticed a lot more story stuff that put them off. The sequel won't have that zeitgeist the original had because all that pretty 2009 cgi, isn't as special any more. But people are going to put out more money to see it, but less people are going to see it. Then there will probably an avatar television series about the navi clones staring an army or some poo poo.

thinking that miles being completely in simmons thrall at the end is good is such a lib thing as well. its like those news stories about the single mom with 3 kids that has to walk barefoot for 5 miles to get to work and the message isnt "this is incredibly hosed up" but instead its "wow look at their hard working spirit!"

the Doctor Strange 2 story is a complete loving mess but the visuals are good and the kid is a good actor, plus I could always use more Benedict Wong in my life e: I appreciate the lengths Sam Raimi went to to make this have a horror movie vibe in parts but they should have gone all the way with it imo indigi has issued a correction as of 00:47 on May 7, 2022 |
