On ubisoft bullshit, I've played farcrys 1, 3 and 4 and gently caress me if ubisoft don't have the worst writers. The game mechanics are really solid, and extremely repetitive, but the plots are 14 year old edgelord levels of loving dire. Actually farcry 1 is fine, until the ridiculous monsters show up.

So like in 6 the bad guy is somehow an ultracapitalist but also a stand in for a Castro type so he's nationalised all the miracle cancer cure fields only he's restricting the supply to make mad cash and also he hates every single member of the populace for an unspecified reason. The good guys are quite obviously supposed to be Marxist type rebels but that's not allowed and also would just confuse the player who may or may not be fighting against not-communism(???) so instead they're some kind of centrist popular front that has no demands or ideals but really wants to kill the guy in charge. I didn't think the story could get worse than 5 but they did it.

The way they appropriate the appearance of real life politics while deliberately avoiding any actual stance or message isn't an accident, and it pisses me off. They tried it with The Division 2 (released in 2019) as well. Recapturing the Capital from a pseudo military faction in an America that has been devastated by deadly plague ended up being extremely political, despite their best efforts.
