Soul collecting got a bit grindy, but most of them you'll never use.

Dupes also power you up. Aria is my favorite Castlevania even though I can admit that SotN is just head and shoulders above all the others.

Have I suffered brain damage? I've played through Aria many times, once just a few months ago, and I don't remember duplicate souls doing anything at all.
|
# ? May 11, 2022 02:29 |

In Aria the only benefit of duplicates is to further power up the effects of the Headhunter soul. In Dawn they expanded on it and allowed multiple souls of the same type to power up / alter that specific soul.

Oh yeah I forgot about Headhunter. I haven't played Dawn but Bloodstained does the soul power up thing.

Dark Souls Remastered - Link the Fire ending. My first time finishing the game, like Elden Ring I did a pure strength build two-handing an ultra greatsword. Really good game, it took some time to get used to the slower pace coming off of Elden Ring and Bloodborne but I grew to appreciate how much more deliberate it was. The lore and world were great to discover as they are in all the Fromsoft games I've played so far. Looking forward to continuing in the series.

Especially Dracula and Carmilla. Only managed to find 1 of the Maidens without having to use a guide. Made it to the 2nd ones "Secret" level, but didn't figure out the gimmick

Nobody Saves the World Story was some newgrounds crap but the core loop of levelling and unlocking forms was fun as hell. I wish they didn't lock form quest progress in the main dungeons, especially when there's already two hard caps until you're past certain points in the story, but, forgiven. 4/5

I enjoyed how it locked class progression behind individual XP which meant you couldn't just find one form you liked and focus on it, you had to play them all evenly, which was actually fun because they were all surprisingly well balanced and interesting.

Elden Ring It's hard for me to talk about how I feel about this game without sounding like a total rear end in a top hat, but suffice to say I loved it. I've got a bunch of nitpicks but barring a miracle it's absolutely my GOTY.
