sadly unfunny

it's funny, a lot of ranged/melee damage sets were designed as secondaries for a tank/defender, rather than primaries for a scrapper/blaster, so they're underwhelming if you try to play them for actual damage. something something this is why powersets weren't initially proliferated

like, what they SHOULD do, is tweak the DPS-facing version of Psi Melee to be better for dealing damage, and leave the tanker version alone, I imagine that's what Cryptic/Paragon were spending all their time on when they did powerset proliferations

I'm kind of handwaving a lot at specific sets/the actual history of those sets but I think the basic premise is sound

It's a phenomenal soft CC power that also does non trivial damage, alongside a reasonably good set of single target damage and a single target confuse that is funny to spam on bosses and AVs :) it's a fun and interesting set.

I love the idea of Boggle but the animation time is painful and I hate the contradictory nature of "confuse something and then keep attacking it to generate insight". (Though I realize in practice it's more like you get to choose between the two effects.)

Nine times out of ten there's literally no reason to manually differentiate sets like that. Every AT has inherent modifiers that multiply base values which keep everything internally consistent. Besides, all of the problems with Psi Melee are unrelated to damage values anyway. It's more down to things like the set never getting animation time refinements and Insight being unfinished, which affects all versions more or less equally.

Also it's less than ideal that the set gives up an entire power slot for Boggle, which as I said above is frustratingly janky and weird. (Honestly I feel like Boggle should've just been an outright Confront/Taunt replacement.)

works pretty well for green lantern types too, even if it's mostly limited to fists or slashy energy blades

if it was possible to use it with a control secondary or forcefield secondary it'd be pretty easy to do a lantern pretty effectively

Tbh, I was also always annoyed that we ended up with a split between mind punches and psi swords. And don't get me wrong, the mind punches are fun, but the set is begging for alternate animations.

Anyone have a decent tri-form peacebringer build?

Seventh Arrow
Jan 26, 2005

Hopefully someone has an answer, but if not then sometimes the HC forums will have something:

https://forums.homecomingservers.com/forum/23-peacebringer-amp-warshade/

I'm also hoping someone has a good ice/cold corruptor build. I tried a gimmick build where I slotted everything I could with slowing enhancement sets and the result is...not great. Although it's amusing to watch enemies run around in extreme slo-mo, my damage output leaves a lot to be desired. A build that combines a bit of damage and slow would be great.

I'd just slot one Slow in the applicable powers and then enhance like normal, giving up dmg instead of acc.

It's more important to hit often than occasionally hit hard.

Also damage procs in freeze ray and bitter freeze ray, not enhancing them for recharge, then pumping some decent global recharge (which you want anyway for heat loss, sleet, ice storm, and blizzard) will vastly out-DPS ice blast/bitter ice blast for single target due to how proc timers work

I've been having a blast with this guy's PB build. I haven't gone nuts with inventions yet. I crafted the KB to KD IOs for most of the powers and a couple IOs for status resists and KB protection. Gets pretty silly: Human form aoe as an opener. While everything is knocked down switch to Nova for more aoe. Dwarf to absorb any hits and use aoe. Rinse and repeat.

I’ll see if I can dump Parhelion’s builds into a link for people when I finish driving cross country. Both his Human form build and Triform performed at the Itrial/Really Hard Way level so they should be decent enough.

I will warn that Triform is mostly, well, not very good on Peacebringer even with the best of intentions and IOs. It can do alright but it’s a lot of work for modest returns. The important cooldowns that can only be activated in Human form are the big nuisance.

On the flip side though Triform is EXCELLENT for doing any content where you’re Exemplared down with folks, and conversely Human form only really shines at 50.

TL;DR here is even as a human form main I ended up using both situationally. I sometimes needed to use Triform for tricky Itrial achievements for folks.

I've come to the understanding that people love running every possible variation on ITF that they can. A few weeks ago, I was in an all-defender ITF. A friend of mine was in an all-tanker ITF (no one died). I've seen all-controller/dominator ITFs, all-35 ITFs, all-melee ITFs. I'm pretty sure I even saw someone fill an all-knockback ITF within minutes.

Thanks, folks. I'm pretty happy with the way the arms and gloves came out, too. If the sci-fi rings could glow only during combat, I'd do it. I have a combat glowing eye aura which I might swap out for atomic around the fists. Psi combat is already really busy, though, but brilliant. I really like how you have a lot of ways to control a pack.

And I got the void skiff (which would be nice if you could recolor) which means more rings, hell yes.

However, I did decide to do a level 50 DFB! Why? Who knows, but I got some interest and it was fun! Of course it leveled us down to 5 or something but whatever

There was also an abnormal amount of Canada-themed heroes in General, so I decided to form a spontaneous all-Canuck group!

Finally, I hosted Wattage Wednesday! An all-electric Market Crash:

If you're doing it on homecoming, tanks have an enhanced AoE and target cap, but scrappers and brutes can both acquire the large numbers.

I try not to repeat powersets so I only have a titan scrapper, but I can't complain. Originally BS/Regen back in I0, I rebuilt her as Titan/Will when Titan Weapons came out.

I haven't played with Titan much, but I'm assuming its "Never stop attacking" mechanic would synergise really well with the Brute's Fury.

And sorry to hear about your current issues; if you're ever bored and want to hang out in a no-pressure situation, I find smaller Twitch channels can be a lot of fun.
