last night's feature: Gravity (2013) I had only heard that this was 'tense' and 'kind of depressing' but what I got was spectacular camera work, (what I choose to believe as) pretty realistic science, a simple yet engaging plot. bullock and clooney do bring a little bit too much Star Power Personality to it but it's entirely forgivable. An excellent film and i really appreciated the short runtime and tight editing. No flashbacks on the farm, no cuts to pictures of kids laughing in a sun-bathed corn field, as you usually get with these types.

Like, I'm gonna be honest, every story about a star-crossed romance between kids from warring families is gonna draw Romeo & Juliet comparisons even if they don't have a clear Mercutio analogue and even if they don't die at the end, that's just the place Shakespeare has in English-speaking culture
