Yeah it's because we don't have Tenzarin's unironic posts about "how things are actually good you guys" every three posts.

Honestly, it's Chris' immense hubris that continues to cause problems in the game, and I don't foresee that changing any time soon.

For anyone doing pohx RF, any idea what the shield charge setup is for? Seems to be superfluous when you've got Frostblink, and you could probably add something else in there instead.

Because we had just finally gotten rid of invulnerable, then they put it back in!

Because they said they'd chill out on the on death effects, and we got more!

Because they said they'd learnt their lesson, no more big nerf patches, yeeet...

Because they said there were no balance changes, which in retrospect was actually "huge monster balance changes that we haven't play tested at all".

I'm going to have to take Chris on scared straight, and put him in time out, mister man!

I think the big difference is the lack of agency when dealing with Archnemesis mods.

In the league proper, you could make a borderline unkillable horrible rare. But it was *your* choice to do so. You were the one that assembled that glorified metamorph, and now you get to live with the results.

In this league, you don't get a choice in the matter. I did a T16 that had a Mana Siphoner, Invulnerable, and Drought Bringer rare. It was in a ritual, and it was in my first ritual for the map at that. Guess what? That ritual, and every ritual after that in the map, was bricked. What else could I do? The arena is small, I had to deal with all the other poo poo around me, and there was no way to burst down something that is invulnerable every 4.5 out of 9 seconds before I run out of mana and have no way to regenerate it.

There needs to be a sanity check on certain mobs and combos if they're going to insist on carrying over all the mods from Archnemesis. You can, through no fault of your own, be surrounded by poo poo that is either a straight up hard counter or close enough. This is before you factor in doing anything involving sentinels, where you could make something that was borderline unkillable for you truly immortal with the amount of damage reduction it can get.

Yeah poo poo like that makes me not care about trying to push into high 90s this league because 1) it's not fun to deal with and 2) the right bullshit combo spawning in a ritual or any of the other 50 league mechanics that rapidly spawn piles of rares on top of you is just going to kill you and past like 95/96 that starts to represent significant amounts of time being undone.

If I were Chris Wolcen I'd be already yelling to immediately revert back to the old magic/rare enemies.

I think the old system was better honestly and they could purposely add the new mods a few at a time until they hit a good balance. I do think the idea of making rares more interesting was good conceptually, just the implementation of it is very anti-fun

E: Also I'm really sad to see that they significantly raised the rarity of ashes and omniscience which are almost up to 30ex now. I figured they'd be rarer this league, but that price is just discouraging, particularly when you need to make literally a full set of gear to get it running. I also watched all of them get bought up when they were 8-9ex and then quickly reappear listed for 20+ ex on day 2, so there's that, too.

If they're significantly rare and popular, the price isn't going to go down much at all. Look at how prices of gg endgame items in poe normally go: they don't go down unless there's a significant surplus of the item relative to the demand.

If I'm currently doing 3 Detonate Dead per second each with 6000 base damage, would it be a good idea to pivot from Ignite to Poison? Anomalous Detonate Dead and a Consuming Dark would convert 90% of it to Chaos. Poison is 30% of the base damage instead of 50%, but it stacks forever, monsters have lower resist to chaos, and wither exists.

Would Bino's spread poison as well as Abberath's Hooves spreads ignite?

Lastly, there's a cluster notable that says the first poison you apply to an enemy gets 300% Increased Damage. Does anyone know if DD's "fire damage" hits first, or if the corpse explosion does?

I'm finally tanky enough to clear most T16s without dying and in a reasonable amount of time and all it took was 76% chaos res, 100% spell suppression, ghost dance, 14k armor and 36k evasion with flasks up, grace, determination and defiance banner. easy league!

Doing Trapminer, round 2. Trigger warning for spell suppression, I'll get it to 100%.

This time I'm doing on Saboteur which really just feels like the proper venue for it. At about 54% chance to double damage, damage is still 10% of what I'd like but gearing up should be done in no time.

I'm going Perfect Crime, Bomb Specialist, Demolitions Specialist. Took Pyromanic as the first pair of Forbidden Jewels because it's uh, like Saboteur for Scion, it's the cheapest. I'm wondering what I'm gonna do with regards to pick 2 out of Born in Shadows/Opportunistic/Pyromaniac. BIS/Opportunistic gives a potential hilarious 35% reduced damage taken but 20% life regen/ignite and shock immunity is really good.

On the other hand everything in this league vomits so much damage my previous tactic of playing squishy no longer works.

Ranged non-ailement non-crit unconditionally-applying (you just need to hit to apply CF, doesn't matter if the mob is in a bubble and also blocked the hit damage) DoT with skill costs as life avoids most Archnmesis bullshit. You're playing one of the builds that can't be shut down by any Archnemesis mod, the worst you get is the occasional damage sponge.

They used the exact same wording when they made harvest augments rarer and I have yet to see a augment from harvest since then despite atlas passives for harvest for multiple leagues.

I think they spoiled us by making it a common item to begin with but I understand why they would make it rarer since there was very little reason to craft a amulet since you would need some massively expensive perfectly rolled influenced rare to even start competing with what ashes could bring to the average build, it's just unfortunate that "rarer" in GGG's lexicon is "you should of used that luck to buy a lottery ticket"

The problem with the campaign isn't the campaign, its that for almost all of it your character is on a 3-4 link with like 10% MS so everything feels slow and lovely. If they let you start from lvl 1 just running maps or whatever its going to feel just as bad until you hit 70 and your build is finally online and you make/buy some decent gear.

Also another problem I have with the campaign is that when I decide to try a new build I'm usually stuck until level 50-90 using a leveling gem set that it's not what I wanted to play with.

So, and this is entirely anecdotal and should be tested a lot more, but using the unique Stalker sentinel "The Megalomaniac" seems to give a ton of bonus xp because of how Sentinel Power works (or appears to be). I've only run it a couple of maps, T11-12, but in the first map I had about 250-300m xp/hour (and I died once), the second was a clean run and ended on 350m xp/hour. This is on a fairly stately pace in SSF, using PohX RF build so the clear isn't spectacular either.

This is my xp/hour after standing around in the hideout for the past 10-15 minutes trying to order food and typing this up.

If anyone else has one and want to confirm/test further, please do, because I'm thick as poo poo generally and could be dreaming things up.

I'm going to agree, it's extremely satisfying to slap a sentinel down and get a loot explosion in return, once you're set up for things, and being able to straight up remove Extra Content so you can focus on a specific thing (like say you need something that only drops in Abyss) helps a lot if you're playing SSF.

Basically same thing as Maven witnessing/invites, except it takes 15 maps to reach sub-boss then 15 to reach the boss boss. Said influences add random mobs that may spawn an altar which lets you choose between two options that modify influence mobs/map boss for some reward.

euphronius
Feb 18, 2009

You have three “paths” you can follow on endgame maps depending on who is observing your t14+ maps. You have the old school maven witness which leads to the maven content. Then you have the new eater of worlds of searing exarch paths . If you follow one of them you eventually lead to boss fights and you get very good shrines in your maps. So you have to choose one of the three to follow at any one time (or none I guess ).

the increased rarity (and price) of Ashes of the Stars depresses me when I've been wanting to do more alt quality builds. coupled with the fact that some alt quality gems are pretty pricey. with me dying more in the first few days than I have combined over the last two leagues, and with the issues with rares. woof, this league feels so daunting and tiring already

I will say, this is the first time in a while I've felt the "struggle" of progressing which is motivating. before launch, I'd wonder if I really wanted to 'zoom' through the game all over again. in 2016, I was so overwhelmed and looked at end game content and went "I'll never do that", which is kinda how feel now. last league I was farming most end game content pretty breezily.

maybe all of this league is for the health of the game, which means I'll be playing for another 6 years
