So Bernice is breaking up with her boyfriend because she can't control her we-might-get-caught fetish. Do I have that right? I'm just trying to pin down exactly how dumb it is.

She is breaking up with him because she doesn't see herself marrying him and dating someone you don't want to marry makes you a hoor.

Ah, right. Now I remember. The only purpose of dating is to find your one-and-only eternal lifemate.

My great-granddad came home from the WWI with an Iron Cross, and this is certainly a happier way to get it than the alternatives that crossed my mind when I found out. On a different note, Ballard Street does a great job at capturing joie de vivre in all the characters. Even the grouchy ones.

Beetle Bailey is a bit different but mostly in the form of more sexual harassment/"men be horndogs amirite" jokes and in the occasional attempt at stuff like this: Mort had so many strips rejected for being too horny, they filled a book published for the sexually-liberated Swedes. Apparently Shaenon Garrity talked about it once, but all I'm getting are dead links. Here's the cover to it though.

I don't remember any truly memorably hosed up poo poo, just nude Beetle Bailey characters and some mild jokes about fuckin'. E: this Finnish second hand book store has some scans up. It's theoretically the Finnish publication, but the translations were just added around the strips. https://moog.antikvariaattimakedonia.fi/index.php?sivu=lehti&moog_lehti_id=44488 Shaman Tank Spec fucked around with this message at 11:10 on May 19, 2022 |
