I'm sure there are a billion answers to this question. I for one love how non-judgmental it is. Yeah, these people are crazy, but the narrator very seldomly puts them in a bad light. They're just crazy and that's that. It's quite delightful.

We'll see if they work tomorrow, but there's only so much rigamarole I'm willing to do as CK keeps trying to push subscriptions on everyone. (old mandrake may be wearing thin on me, if only for the Lothar-racism)

My great-granddad came home from the WWI with an Iron Cross, and this is certainly a happier way to get it than the alternatives that crossed my mind when I found out.

On a different note, Ballard Street does a great job at capturing joie de vivre in all the characters. Even the grouchy ones.

We also had that in Finland. I don't remember any truly memorably hosed up poo poo, just nude Beetle Bailey characters and some mild jokes about fuckin'.

E: this Finnish second hand book store has some scans up. It's theoretically the Finnish publication, but the translations were just added around the strips.
