Its good. More fleshed out than you would expect for an early access game. Though not very optimized so you will notice a slow down as your base starts getting bigger.

The isometric camera in V Rising is not doing it for me at all. It's probably better when you're actually playing it but it has the look of a fairly unspectacular diablo clone even though it apparently plays nothing like Diablo.

Is PvZ Garden Warfare 2 supposed to be this brutal in the vanilla pvp? I think my record for staying alive is like 5 seconds. I spend more time running back from spawn, and generally don't even see what killed me until its too late.

Fun combat mechanics. Bad AI - you can easily circlestrafe your way to victory against everything I faced in the refund period. It would probably be fun against players because BLC/Battlerite were fun pvp games and this is essentially the same combat, but it wasn't going to do it for me as a singleplayer game.

Gameplay loop is centered around real-world waiting times - multiple hours to convert captured NPC followers and unlock various things. Always-dwindling power sources in your base that you have to log in with some regularity to refill, etc. That's the kind of stuff I particularly don't like in multiplayer Survival games. You can adjust the timers when playing singleplayer or hosting your own server, but for me that just feels empty in the way that playing an emulated MMO on a self-hosted private server does.

Anyway my point is I wouldn't recommend it as a singleplayer experience for people who don't like this general formula of survival games but are tempted by the promise of good combat, but if the formula is your jam or if pvp is what you want people really seem to like it.

I just finished the Rana campaign. While it was quite hard, I eventually beat it handily enough.

The writing is alright, though I do miss some of the characters from Heroes proper and how they built up their stories. I especially like how the Lawful Stupid actions of the protagonist in the first campaign led to a massive invasion by the Rana in the second. I sincerely miss seeing noblemen acting like entitled idiots like this in fantasy fiction lately.

The graphics and sound design are probably the game's greatest strengths. They're obviously still figuring out balance, but the systems in place are really good.

This sounds pretty cool. I have only played the first mission in Songs of Conquest, but I definitely felt the leader in that was a jerk. I'm glad to see the game is showing consequences for nobles being awful, now I'm much more motivated to keep playing. Ignoring the story, I absolutely love the aesthetic and basic gameplay so far. I hope the game keeps developing, apparently they are responding to fan feedback by toning down some of the difficulty on the very end of campaigns. They were used to beta testers who knew the system perfectly and scooped up every possible advantage in prior missions.

There was some Craftopia talk earlier, apparently they dropped a big update just a few days ago with a whole new game mode. Looks like the devs are pretty passionate about the project, and they have been continually adding to it for quite a while. It's definitely a bit jank, but there's some really cool fun stuff in there too. I played it for a couple hours. Haven't gotten too far yet, but taking magic skills to blast golem boss weak spots from a safe distance was satisfying and the basic sword combat moves were also satisfying when I was fighting dungeon goblins.

I'm not sure what the patch history of Hardspace Shipbreaker is, but having come back to it today after about a year, I'm impressed. The storyline, new ships and variations, the hab sections, collectibles, and the personal ship stuff are all new to me. Finally being able to save progress on a large ship is also welcome. So far it seems like the physics jank and performance issues are gone, although I've not yet worked my way up to the largest classes of ships.

A different perspective here:
I started a solo game but I upped the sliders for stack size to max, resource droprate to 2x and crafting/refine timers to 5x. There is no problem at all with these things If you do this. Also the time on your castle heart does not decay at all while you don't play solo, thats only an issue for dedicated servers. It's also the only decaying resource. Enemies get a lot more challenging the deeper you get into it and you can't just circle strafe. I agree that the default 1x settings are mostly unplayable solo unless you grind extensively but they can be tweaked to whatever you please so go for it.

I grabbed the game and played a bit. Seems pretty cool. Despite people rushing to get weird about it since it was made by Chinese devs it actually isn't that much like Rimworld. Art wise there are more animations and the spritework is more detailed when you can actually see it. That's actually my main problem with the game is that it has no zoom and on a higher resolution monitor it is all pretty tiny. It also has a light story/conversations, but the world is proc gen'd. Gameplay you are a single character you create rather than a colony manager.

It actually seems more like an overhead Terraria with Rimworld elements.

I haven't gotten far but it seems polished enough for the price and there are no translation issues.

I'll throw my endorsement for Obsidian Prince as well, which just got it's 1.0 release alongside this bundle. Godstrike too, which probably gets my vote of 'Game I wouldn't pay full price for but I'd be extremely happy to scoop up in a bundle to fill my way to a price tier' of this lot. It's fun for what it is- if you've played a bossrush-style action game before, Godstrike is probably going to last 4-5 hours and only provide much resistance at the end since in it's a lot of ways Baby's First Bossrush Game, but then new people might get frustrated with the main concept of that the timer doubles as your health bar. Because of how that works, it makes it unclear sometimes when a fight is lost yet you can keep fighting for a while never knowing you don't have the time remaining to actually win. That said, it's also really good for having a chance to really work out a boss' patterns per run even if you are absolutely biffing it, so YMMV.

Another friend of mine bought Evil Dead, bringing our group total to 3, and even going from 2 players to 3 the experience is so, so much better when people are willing to work together to accomplish the goals instead of run in 4 opposite directions at the start of every game. I'm actually really coming around to the gameplay now that we're working together and understanding how to utilize our abilities. I'm playing as, uh, Evil Dead 1 Ash, and his ability reduces the fear meter of teammates around him when he uses it which is 'uge because that's how they eventually can posess you and make you fight your teammates and stuff. He also heals with heavy melee attacks so I've found yet another game that I can heal teammates in and it's really helpful for keeping everyone topped off when we're fighting.

Definitely one of the more frustrating parts of this game though are they don't really always clearly show where your teammates are and doesn't show people's names over their heads or anything. In a game where there's like 5 different versions of the same character that people can play as, it's definitely frustrating when you want someone to come to you because it's like "Oh I'm ash, but the young one. No not the one with the cape. the young one... with the bowl cut?". It's even harder when playing with someone like my friend who has never seen the movies.

I was pretty annoyed with this game initially because you really need to coordinate with your teammates and that wasn't happening, but now that I've played a few more rounds and gotten some levels and have a third guy in our group we actually had a blast last night. I really don't know how much legs this game has tbh, thankfully there's crossplay with consoles because it has taken us a while to find matches and have never played with anyone else who wasn't on a console, but apparently the game sold 500k copies in a few days after launch which isn't bad. For $30 (on sale right now) it's far more palatable to me personally, if you have a group of friends looking to play something and are fans of the movie/genre you could probably do worse.

That is a shame actually but it would be unrealistic to expect anyone to re-create Rimworld AND build a completely different game on top (unless it's a DLC for the actual Rimworld I suppose). I still plan to try Keplerth, though, because it sounds good.

Extinction for our time

Because it made me laugh: apparently there is a Polish book series based on the premise "what would the medieval world look like if Jesus kicked rear end." And now that world is being brought to life in a video game! Well, it worked for The Witcher.

quote:

"I, the Inquisitor'' is a story-driven, dark fantasy adventure game with action elements and difficult moral choices. Based on the bestselling Inquisitor book series by Jacek Piekara, the game takes place in an alternative religious timeline. Once nailed to the cross and near death, Jesus becomes consumed by utter rage. He breaks free and unleashes violent vengeance on all the non-believers. Centuries pass and now an army of zealot Inquisitors brutally enforce the faith in this bloodsoaked Church.

The reflections are nice and impressive in Dubai. That's like the one level for it, though. I kinda wish they gave us RTGI and RTAO as options too. I'd give up reflections for those in most levels. As it is, outside of Dubai, the RT doesn't really do much.
