Lotta fun sounding pics there, never heard of Surf II for example!

Just to Siskel & Ebert a bit, I thought Raw Force was pretty blah. Didn't stand out in the sea of fun trash to me.

(Edit: new page, well, everybody see Evil Cult starring Neil Stryker, also Max Knight Ultra Spy)

edit: wait, I got Vinegar Syndrome and Severin mixed up. I thought the Severin sale was up next. This question is actually about Vinegar Syndrome

Since the Christopher Lee box sets don't look like what I'm after, could you guys recommend any Severin tits in a castle type movies? Vampire Lovers is an exemplar of the genre. Classic British or European horror in a classy setting like a castle or a mansion, probably some professional men in suits having discussions in rooms, and shameless nudity.

Also, do they have any good gay stuff?

One of Vinegar Syndrome's partner labels, Altered Innocence, is dedicated to releasing LGBTQ and coming-of-age films with an artistic edge; unfortunately being like a year into really knowing about it I haven't had the chance to really explore, but I definitely recommend Knife+Heart which has a release on the site

You think you can take me at Satan's Hollow? Go 'head on!
Putney Swope is a great movie, different from Vinegar Syndrome's usual stuff (which is also great, for different reasons). A black man gets voted to be the next head of an advertising company (because the rest of the mostly-white board think nobody else would vote for him), and he proceeds to deliberately try to run the business into the ground by making only the worst decisions he can.

It's odd, and the humor is pretty dry, but I enjoyed it quite a bit.

You’re making it a lot more complex than it is. Sale starts on Friday at 12:01 am eat, so about 21 hours from now. Currently, the site is closed. When it opens on Friday, you can buy Tammy and the T-Rex and so many more trashy movies for 50% off.

Big important warning tho! After the sale is over this weekend, the site will close again until June 3rd. For the rest of June, you cannot buy any main Vinegar Syndrome titles because of Partners Month. “What is that and why can’t I buy Tammy and the T-Rex then?” you may ask. Vinegar Syndrome gets so many orders during the sale, they take all of June to send them out. The company is like 5 people. It’s tiny. But, there will be 13 brand new titles from the partner labels. Seriously, do not skip on the partners. They have everything from modern horror, foreign weirdness, shot on video trash from the 90s, Legit forgotten gems and so much more.

And the subscription? It’s totally optional and only for idiots that have more money then sense (like me). Vinegar Syndrome will send you every title for the rest of 2022 at half price. You just have to pre-buy all of it now. The only thing you won’t get are partner label titles, VSA titles (they are limited print in special packaging. Most are action films tbh), and VSU titles (UHD titles with very fancy packing. Typically very notable titles like Beastmaster and Cloak & Dagger). However, you can add these to you regular shipment of movies with a 50% off coupon.

I mean, it's got some (quite tame) gore in it, but it's definitely not "a gore flick." It's a comedy, and one of the jokes in it happens to be occasionally showing some cartoonish gore. Itchy & Scratchy, not Nekromantik.

I for one am glad that over the last 5 years, everyone else has become well versed in the VinSyn catalog, I honestly don't have anything to add to everyone's recs. I will say though that the vast majority of their catalog is good, I've been a subscriber for years now, and have almost everything, and their hits vastly outnumber the misses.

I think the only complaint I have these days is that I just can't afford to buy all of the partner label discs all the time. I have to anguish over which two or three discs I want to blind buy for my collection :negative:

Trying to decide which VinSyn titles I want this time that I don't already have, or if I'm even going to participate since I already ordered the Halfway to Black Friday 5-pack. I guess there's Scanner Cop 1+2, that's at the top of my next-to-buy list. Also Fade to Black, which I've seen already on Shudder and don't know if I really need to own the blu-ray. Really good movie though.

Oh, Don't Panic seemed good and crazy from that RedLetterMedia review of it, and Death Promise is entertaining as hell.

I mean it's a film that was written and produced by Spielberg, that was obviously well known at the time of it's release and a big part of marketing it. So he was heavily involved in making the movie no matter what you think about the whole directing situation with Hooper.

Seconding this! Please buy Corruption and watch Last House… if you haven’t, it’s a super low-budget, grimy phantasmagoric nightmare but done with enough style that it really is more than the sum of its parts. Corruption is an interesting film, too, and I really like the new slip they’ve designed for it.

2nding this. It's very far ahead of it's time and feels like something of a combo of Mel Brooks and Tim & Eric. Criterion (and maybe HBO Max) has on streaming at the current time.

I'd say check out Deadline, a tight thriller about a horror novelist spiraling downwards.

Censor: Might not be a part of the sale (released in January), but it is one my favorite recent horror movies.

Forgotten Giallo 3: Trauma is a good one, The other two are alright.

Forgotten Giallo 4: Sisters of Ursula and Arabella Black Angel are both super sleazy fun. The Killer is Still Among Us was great when I went in blind. Warning, it is very graphic and gave me some pause.

I recently rewatched the Sony Blu-ray and it holds up amazingly. It was a full 4K DI and shows. Would make a perfect Arrow UHD, though it seems like rights probably reverted to Tarsem since it was self-funded and Sony only distributed on video.
