I always figure the smart stuff was being done by people the ruling class hired/enslaved, and the stupid genetic poo poo was being done by the ruling class itself. And as we've seen, you can use facts and logic and science to decry the deeds of the ruling class all you want, but that's not gonna change them, just invite a quiet assassination from them.

If there was, it would never be great. Look at North Korea, a country that does exactly what you mentioned.  This is their greatest achievement. This is their pyramid. Everyone is starving, everyone there suffers from human rights abuse. For all intents and purposes, North Korea is a poo poo hole. If Ancient Egypt truly acted as you mentioned, it would never exist as we know it because it would be a poo poo hole.

A few weeks ago in my city a woman went up to a security guard and reported a man taking photos of children. The guard and the woman went up to the man and it turned out that they were his kids. The woman proceeded to call him a liar, pepper sprayed him, and ran away and was wanted by police. It also reminds me of this classic story from Cindy McCain quote:McCain said she was coming home from a trip when she "spotted — it looked odd — it was a woman of a different ethnicity than the child, this little toddler she had.
