It's amazing what they can do with computers these days.

I knew it would be a lot, but even this seems like way too much. Might as well just sign up for Hulu live or something for that much money.

NESN isn't on Hulu + Live TV.

e: NESN is only on DirecTV Stream and fuboTV for streaming.

Arlo White, lead commentator for the EPL in America was criticized back in November because he basically glossed over the human rights abuses of Newcastle's new owners, the PIF aka Saudi Arabia.

He recently left the EPL and has a new job commentating on the new LIV Golf series, funded by........ PIF.

And White, not surprisingly, will be paid very handsomely, according to sources. We do not have exact figures, but White has gone from making hundreds of thousands per year to millions in the move, according to sources. And we are told besides the eight-to-ten events for LIV, White is still allowed to add a soccer component to his duties.

I feel like this golf tour is going to fall flat on its face and a bunch of these golfers are going to be stuck not getting paid and hoping the PGA Tour will let them back. Just don't see how any of their spending is sustainable or how the average golf fan would give a poo poo.

Yeah this tour doesn’t need to make money, the Saudis just need to white wash their endless stream of cash. Sports are a pretty easy way of doing that. Hence the golf tour and purchasing Newcastle United.

LionYeti

This is just like the World Cup in Qatar making money is not its primary function, it'd be nice if it did but it in no way has to.

But I'm wondering whose gonna broadcast this. I'm guessing the PGA went to its broadcasting partners and said Do not broadcast this or else. I don't know who would rock the boat enough to do it.

But you have to get something out of this. This tour isn't even on TV from what I can tell and the audience they'll get from whatever bottom of the barrell cable network will be abysmal. I understand their other moves into sports, but what's the point of this if no one watches?

The audience for PGA tour content/advertising probably punches above its size in terms of business and political influence, and as was said, the juxtaposition of the Saudi "brand" with the PGA and other "respectable" sporting institutions is the primary benefit.

Yeah the Golf Channel gets tiny ratings but the audience is rich as gently caress so it stays on the air with a lot of NBC muscle behind it.

I think most advertisers will avoid this. Only so much money can be made from MyPillow ads and gold buying opportunities.

If it's to give them a "respectable" sporting institution, so be it. I just feel like this is going to be a massive flop that no one even talks about in a couple of years. The tour will be dead within a few years.

I know this is a lovely situation but that’s a touch bloodthirsty.

It’s amazing that the PGA Tour just has to do nothing and look better by comparison, too. Not to confuse that with them being the good guys at any stretch.

some details about the 7 part "Yeah Jeets" documentary:

AA posted:

We have more information on ESPN’s comprehensive seven-part Derek Jeter docuseries. Entitled The Captain, the series will premiere on Monday, July 18th immediately after the MLB Home Run Derby (around 10 PM ET, likely later) on ESPN.

Future episodes will premiere each Thursday after that, at either 9 PM ET or 10 PM ET, while also being available on ESPN+.

Here’s the full episode listing from ESPN’s release.

Episode 1: Jeter’s upbringing as a bi-racial kid in the Midwest and his journey to the major leagues. This episode features never before seen footage of Jeter getting drafted by the Yankees.

Episode 2: Jeter has an instant impact on the Yankees as he captures a title in his first season as a pro. This catapults him to superstardom but fame comes with a price. Jeter reveals the privileges and perils of fame. But through it all, Jeter becomes a leader on a team that is considered by many to be the greatest in the history of the game, the 1998 Yankees.

Episode 3: The importance of loyalty and trust to Jeter as the Yankees cap off a three peat beating the New York Mets, and his friendship with Alex Rodriguez is changed.

Episode 4: The Yankees Dynasty ends and we explore 9/11’s impact on New York. The Yankees and Boston Red Sox’s ancient blood feud is decided in an epic Game 7. Team dynamics change with the addition of new players and personalities.

Episode 5: The Yankees and Jeter suffer the most historic loss in baseball history. Jeter’s identity is under attack as he faces challenges in the press, on the field and in his clubhouse.

Episode 6: Jeter wins his 5th and final World Series and celebrates his 3000th hit, but it’s not all smooth sailing for this aging superstar. As his career begins to come to an end, he goes through a very public and difficult contract negotiation that changes his relationship with the Yankees. For the first time ever, Jeter’s wife Hannah gives us the backstory of their relationship and a behind the scenes look at Jeter’s recovery from a career altering injury.

Episode 7: Jeter and Hannah share intimate details of their difficult journey on the way to parenthood. Jeter achieves another dream by becoming the owner of the Miami Marlins, but his journey is fraught with criticism and unfinished business
