Didn't you mean to ask about flowers?

Tiggum posted:

That's not showing or telling. "Show, don't tell" means that instead of, for example, saying in narration that two characters are friends, you just have them interact in a way that makes it obvious. It doesn't mean you don't convey the information, it just means to use the story to explain the setting and characters to the reader rather than infodumping.

I'm aware, thank you, :tipshat: but my flippant and nonsensical ranting(and misuse of terms) was about how Blind Alley has done a nice job of showing us many things and building up a mystery and is now just spinning its wheels. It's actually perfectly in vogue for the author to just give us an info dump about what is going on at this point and I wanted to mock the strip for going almost too hard with the misconception that "you should ALWAYS Show, Don't Tell." Sometimes you gotta tell.

What's the deal with the robot birds?
What's in the hobo kid's hobo sack?
Why are dogs and kids running around/dreaming and going GASP, OH NO, NOT THAT?
Where are the adults?
What is Blind Alley?
Will Ness learn Psi Rockin α?

I'm thinking of that time in SGR when Ryan gets "killed" by Eisegesis so he can see his murdered French girlfriend again. Only she's turned into a skellington which Ryan isn't into at all. So more of a Flatliners experience than a true death, but close enough.

My mistake! I'd forgotten about that storyline (to be honest I've forgotten about a lot of SGR stories since they are often not as focused as Allison's later work).

Also Allison mentioned on his Twitter and Patreon that he's still working on The Great British Bump Off, a mystery story starring Lottie and Claire that he teased in 2021 at the end of the Circus Windows story. It's up to over 100 pages however so he probably won't release it as a webcomic.
