They might say there's no way RU mil would attack Lysychans'k, but if the General doesn't give a gently caress about his grunts, they will throw troops into the grinder over and over and over if they can even reach the river. This does seem to be RU strategy such as it is right now, throw units into contact over and over until there's nothing left.

The terrain map is absolutely dire lol, while Lysychans'k is the most prominent elevation in the area, the entire 20 mile stretch of that river has several hundred feet of elevation on the southern bank from the Severodonetsk side, easy to dig in on and get a very commanding view of any attempted river crossing.

I enjoy the constant bluster coming out of Kadyrov when we're getting updates like this:

quote:

Luhansk Oblast Administration Head Serhiy Haidai disagreed with the UK Defense Ministry forecast on June 3 that Russian forces will seize the remaining 10% of the oblast in the next two weeks, claiming that Ukrainian forces have enough reinforcements and equipment to conduct further counterattacks and defend their positions.[2] Haidai noted that Russian forces wrongfully believe in their own successes, enabling Ukrainian defenders to inflict high losses against unsuspecting Chechen units.

Odessa famously has a bunch of vineyards with French grapes imported by Richelieu. There’s a local story, maybe a legend, that they’re excepted from one of the origin-controlled name for a kind of cognac because when a blight was ruining French grapes in the 70s they sent over a bunch of rootstock to restart French wine production.

Also, some of the best beer I can remember drinking in my life was at a random Odessa seafood restaurant that didn’t even advertise itself as a brewery but apparently had some amazing hobbyist brewer experimenting in the kitchen.

Kerrygold Dubliner is, indeed, a fine day in. You wouldn't think it would be a good melting cheese, but it makes pretty good grilled cheese sandwiches.

Wholesale looting and exporting of grain from occupied Ukrainian territories appears to have been in full swing for a while now. A lot of it seems to be heading to Syria, presumably to feed Assad's soldiers. Turkey sure doesn't seem interested in doing much of anything about it.

Bought/found some of this at Total Wine in the DC area a few months ago. Ah, gently caress. E:F;B.

When my family lived there from 91-93 they bought generic wine in a jug that they said was the best they'd ever drank. It's only recently that Sicilian wines have come en vogue, before, they were "filler stock" for mainland wines.

If you like the taste of a sharp white cheddar but it's not the right kind of melty for a GC, take a half brick of it, a wheel of brie, and about a cup of white wine, and blend/food process. Added points for mixing some softened butter with dijon mustard to slather on the bread before cooking. It's a Test Kitchen recipe called a grown-up grilled cheese. It's fantastic.
