I missed that Lord Belial put out Rapture last week. It's their first album since 2009. It's nothing too different from their old stuff but that's kind of amazing considering how long they've been at it. I remember blasting Kiss the Goat and Moonlight Gate in the 90s. Very random but Forlorn in Silence is one of those tracks I’ll never get out of my head. Still have a bootlegged bit of sheet music for it in my files somewhere. Learned half of it by ear and then did the rest in Finale.

They add a lot of different guitar tone and sound into some tracks but some of the albums have also just had a lot of synths in there as well. I tried revisiting Dark Tranquility recently because I've been on an At The Gates kick and also Dark Tranquility were on the bill of the first very weird) metal show I ever went to. Did not hold up imo.

But the frontman was super friendly and a really nice guy, all smiles, meeting fans and having a great time. I went to a bin during ensiferum to chuck my empty away near the backstage and he just kinda appeared, gave me a new one and a fistbump. I thought it was a roadie or something. Super positive vibes from him.

I finished a re-discoging of Dark Tranquillity a month or two back alongside a buddy who has never heard them and my opinion of them only got higher. Skydancer has gone way way up in my personal rankings and is now just below The Gallery and Damage Done. I won't pretend like they haven't been making the same album since 2013 tho, but I do like that sound.

Seemed like a cool guy.
