The YouGov thing is no surprise at all. I made a short twitter thread about it, but basically I used to be signed up to YouGov (they actually used to have a fairly generous payout scheme of about £1.50 for a 10 minute survey on brands and other bullshit, but they cut that waaaaay down so you need to do like a thousand bloody polls to get a £50 voucher), and filled out some polls during the election campaigns. The questions directly preceding the "important" one (e.g. "To what extent do you approve or disapprove of Jeremy Corbyn's leadershup of the Labour Party" or whatever) were usually stuff like "Some have criticised Jeremy Corbyn's handling of the recent poisoning in Salisbury, to what extent are you aware of this coverage", and other stuff that's clearly actually just them saying "You *are* aware that he's a literal terrorist, right?" before then asking what you think of him.

I was going yo make a joke about how the term 'blockbuster' has its origins in enormous queues outside cinemas w/r/t record beating NHS waiting times but apparently the term 'movie blockbuster' itself was originally coined in reference to bombs used to blow up italian factories in WW2. I'm not sure that isn't a more fitting analogy for what the tories want to do to the nhs anyway. I am however fuming that 'blockbuster' and 'box office bomb' are almost the same thing despite having diametrically opposed meanings.

Yeah some of the people on there are total chodes, but portraying George Galloway and Zarah Sultana as two halves of a Sino-Soviet split targeting the British Muslim community is a holographic level of brainworms.

If starmer was fined for his beer, how would we actually know? I mean obviously others would be too I guess and someone would dob him in or force him to lie in a place he can't get away with it. I'm just sort of wondering if he could conceivably hide it

Tesseraction posted:I'm more optimistic. The NHS isn't dead forever, it's just dead under Tory malevolence. The problem with this line of thinking is, as implied by Jeherrin's post about things that need to happen to start rebuilding the NHS, that you don't need to actually do anything legislatively for the NHS to keep getting worse at an increasing rate. All the things that are killing it are intentionally baked into its current operating model so under a Starmer government it will, at minimum, continue accelerating towards collapse. And that's without even factoring in Streeting trying to make it "more efficient". Oh, and Starmer's leadership campaign was financially backed by private healthcare companies, so double lol I guess.
