Roadside kittens sometimes fall out of cars, because moms put them somewhere warm and dry and up inside a car or truck is such a place. But 13 at one is almost definitely 2 litters and that seems more deliberate of an abandonment, which is hosed up. Also those kittens are totally socialized so these aren't just feral-born, they ran to a human immediately, they were dumped, intentionally or otherwise.

May 14, 2009

That was my first thought as well, my kitty was definitely a little wildling when we found him in our parking lot at work, it took us like three days to catch him (he kept climbing up in cars and hanging out around the waste oil/coolant barrels and we didn’t want him to get hurt)

Those munchkins just went right up to that guy immediately

I think generally the plotlines for Stranger Things 4 are worse the further they take place from Hawkins. The Hopper stuff is a huge waste of time, the Eleven stuff in the lab was extremely tedious (payoff was pretty good but still didn't quire justify the investment), and Mike, Jonathan, and Will are basically in story timeout loving around out west. The Hawkins stuff is pretty good, except for the stuff with the basketball team.

Yeah so far I agree and we're not finished. It's way to loving padded out and pretty dull. We spend most of the time asking what the purpose of doing [thing] was when the plot didn't need it and it didn't do much for the characters.

The problem with Obi Wan isn't that it's a legacy character it's that they're using a legacy character to try and spin off new IP and destroying every single thing about him as a character in the process.

Supreme warrior, smart investigator, prepared, cunning, intelligent through 4 movies and animated series.

Nope we'll wipe all that out and turn him into a bumbling clown that needs to be saved by a 10 year old girl, a con man and some random deus ex machina under ground rail road chick.

The character has been written as almost completely incapable of doing anything right or on his own and its rediculous.

I'll bet all the money I have the series ends with

the inquisitor saving Luke (some how) and fixing obi wans inexplicable gently caress up that puts him in danger that the established obi wan characrer would never have caused in a thousand years

I keep thinking about that lazer-gate checkpoint, you know, the one where the space-truck has to stop at. Obi-Wan makes an effort to get the gate lowered so they can take the truck through... walk... through it... there's a thousand miles of empty desert terrain in all directions and hell, you can literally see how to walk around it in the scene. Its only function, nominally is to force law-abiding road-traveling vehicles (which, as we know from watching star wars, is how vehicles work in this setting) to stop for inspection. Also if you fall against it you get sliced into bits, but nobody ever worried about occupational safety for storm troopers.

It's a small nitpick but it's also just a glaring case of not giving a poo poo by a show maker. You wanted a specific plot development to occur here, you pulled a reason for it to happen here out of your rear end, and you didn't give any thoughts or fucks about whether that was consistent with the setting - broadly or the immediate setting in which you're actively filming - because doing so would require thinking.

It's emblematic of the general lack of care demonstrated throughout the show. They don't care about the character already established from other movies, they don't care about setting consistency, they don't care about the thematic elements they're introducing, or stylistic choices that affect the mood.

The Mandalorian is so strikingly different because it's so obviously made by people who care about the show, who have put a ton of effort into the art direction to make it thematic and cool and suitable to the setting. The characters aren't just props for the main character, the show takes risks (baby yoda, Amy Sedaris' character, Bill Burr!) without turning its comedic moments into dumb slapstick.

loving, Kumail Nanjani is no Bill Burr, and boy does it show. His character is impossible to take seriously. He talks on-screen like he's doing standup.

e. added spoiler tags for really minor spoiler.

Yeah I think I commented on this same thing in another thread. In the moment I thought “oh, he’s trying to open the gate because he wants to steal the truck,” but then they just walk through, about 8 feet away from where they could’ve just walked around it.

Problem with the show is that this version of Obi-Wan just isn’t fun to be around. There’s none of the mild smart-assery that defined him in both the prequels and OT.

Man these 1/6 hearings are hilarious. This won’t change a single mind and our justice department is too dickless to charge anyone with any real power. Trump and his admin broke like a billion laws and outside of a few low level lackeys, they’ve basically all gotten away with it. Congress is too corrupt to do anything outside of party lines.

Disney's big IPs are no longer entertainment companies they're content companies.

There's Kathleen Kennedy at the top who has no idea what she's doing and then there's the writers she hired who don't know what they're doing who are just tying established characters to new ones and not worrying about anything except pushing the next thing and the next thing and the next thing.

They've forgotten that their number one commitment to an audience is to entertain.

Its probably why they're not drawing real writing talent from anywhere and the only person who can write worth a lick is on the only property that doesn't suck.

They'll put together a snappy trailer. Promise you what you want but give you what you didn't ask for and if you buck or criticise you'll get slapped with the new PR term "toxic fanbase" and dismissed.

Its kind of a shame because they could have done a tightly written obi wan series very easily they could have kept the inquisitors and everything else important including reva as their next push and ip. But the only way they seem to do that now is cut corners and rush poo poo out. In the process they take away the agency and defining traits of the characters we want to see more of to push the new ones.

Its kind of baffling how bad they are at this poo poo but I guess it's like Adam Sandler getting paid 20 million a movie to do the same shtick he did for 20 years. They can be made on time, on a budget and bring in the exact revenue they need to keep churning out crap for decades.
