When Branco draws Nancy Pelosi as a witch and titles it "Witch Hunt," I don't think he's misunderstanding the term. Also, fun fact, prior to 2010, a diagnosis of gender dysphoria for children did not require a desire to transition. It instead just looked at a bunch of gendered behaviours, of which declaring yourself to be another gender or a desire to be another gender was only one factor. And then when the gender nonconforming kids grew up and didn't transition, the doctors were like "drat, guess really you can torture transness out of kids" The change to require actually being trans and not just liking trucks and playing with boys (and also not torturing kids) seems to have angered many TERFs, since they want to go back to how it was in the 90s. Ive seen trans men be called perverts (especially if they have given birth) and trans girls called victims (but they become perverts as soon as they participate in society). But, generally, if the transphobe is setting the narrative, it's all trans boy victims and trans woman perverts. The idea that trans women were once trans girls, or that trans boys grow up to be trans men is not useful to the narrative, so they pretend it doesn't happen.
