also 'worf in trail cam'

I saw some images where someone asked it to make a British royal skateboard or something. They looked like someone took photos of a real thing. Kinda like this.

This sort of thing is what makes me sad about current AI tech. The good stuff is always limited to an elite few, not just anyone can download the full Dall-e or the full GPT-3 or whatever and run it themselves. Only some researchers and industry insiders get to play with it. :/

(and can't post for 6 days!)

Just watched ep 6. I might just be in a good mood, but I think that was my favourite one yet and a good bounce back from last week, which I thought was kind of embarrassing at points.

It's interesting - I think Pike falls into the usual pattern of starfleet captains being extremely self-righteous at the end here, and it doesn't make me like him any less exactly, but he doesn't have the sheen of perfection he had to me before this episode. That's not a bad thing, and I think the writers left it well enough that the Alora made a decent counter argument to Pike's disgust. It's a pretty silly conceit that the AI, or whatever it is, that keeps their planet alive just flat out needs a kid's brain and they have found no alternative for centuries - but if you accept that, then really it is a very low price to pay and Starfleet truly doesn't have a leg to stand on by arguing against it considering the amount of destruction even their best intentions cause on a daily basis.

Uhura and La'an having a lighthearted b-plot worked way better for me than Una and La'an last week. La'an's one of my favourites right now.

I enjoyed the progression of M'benga's subplot. Maybe we'll actually get a resolution to this sooner than later. No harm in having a recurring kid on the cast, really.

Also the kid who played the first servant was actually pretty good. Usually those types of roles are really irritating, but they did a good job with this. Both believeably a genius and childish at the same time - I've seen that done badly so many times it was refreshing. I felt bad for him during that moment of fear before he gets jacked in.

Alora and the kid's dad were also good. There were basically no weak spots all episode.

Every Star Trek should feature at least one episode where a Vulcan assigned to deal with Starfleet officers is seen doing this:

Things change a lot in season 3, so if you pick up there you'll have... something different than the first two seasons. Early attempts at serialized story telling. It's got some obvious issues, but at the very least it's not nearly as boring as the first two seasons.

And then season 4 is just kind of indulgent fun. Not amazing Trek, but enjoyable to watch, which is also a huge contrast with the first two seasons.

I would put Enterprise above Voyager. I enjoyed the series. I found the first half of S1 to be almost impossible to get through but once I made it past the hurdle I liked it.

The first two seasons were absolutely mediocre. S3 was Star Trek 9/11. S4 was pretty good from what I remember. I want to peek into an alternate reality and see how S5 would've turned out if they got just one more.

I don't think this is a universally held opinion. Lots of people like Voyager. In fact, I like Voyager. I'd just put it as the weakest of that era.

Steven doesn't want me watching him sleep anymore.
I've started watching Voyager recently, and I've found it to be the perfect show to watch while falling asleep, possibly while high. It delivers just the right amount of mental stimulation that I want while semi-unconscious just to make drifting off comfortable, quiet the day's thoughts, etc. It's like Star Trek: White Noise.
