Man, I used to be embarrassed that I got scammed by a fake Italian man into buying fake leather jackets, but at least it taught me a valuable lesson: Italian is an actual language and not just putting a Mario accent on, and never buy luxury goods from a back of a minivan when you're half in the bag. Still it was only a $200 dollar lesson compared to this nonsense.

Hey, if the jacket looked ok on you and you got some wears out of it you still did better than most hodlers

Defi lending seems to be a regular rear end ponzi except its partially backed by a funny money coin that fails spectacularly

Yeah DeFi is “decentralized finance”

Seems pretty centralized if they can freeze all activity and steal from people when the market tanks, though.

hello depositors, in addition to activating Epic HODL Mode on your accounts, we're also going to take a few hundred million of your funds to the casino for a bit. nothing to worry about!

Wait wait, hold up.

The (fake)bank not only has stopped all withdrawls from it, it has now also moved their depositors money OUT of the bank into SOMEONE ELSE'S financial institution!?

One, I'm assuming that it's their whole stack because $320mil seems big for a "loo loo loo, just doing some fun investing nothing to see here" move and lol that's all they have they're so boned.
Two, this feels like if you had your savings in WellsFargo, they tell you that you can't withdraw any cash from your account right now ("atm's broken, go away") and then a news story drops that the Wells Fargo CEO is on a plane to Vegas with a cashier's check for $lods_of_emone

I liked "to the spittoon" just for the rhyme to the original phrase.

In my wife's MBA classes multiple professors told the students to stay the gently caress away from crypto in no uncertain terms. If it isn't an outright scam it has scams grafted to it in every direction and too many people with no experience in investment or business treating it like a shadow stock market.

One guy, a fund manager, insisted that it was a totally cool market and heavily invested in four or five crypto currencies (not companies, he held tokens) and would send everyone in class a weekly report on how he was doing for most of the last two years. That stopped when the original dip happened. He's hosting a party on Friday my wife wants to go to and I am thinking of going just to ask if he's buying the dip.

OP you're missing an opportunity here. Bring the dip.

I'd say queso because velveeta and ro-tel is so easy, but guacamole, or spinach and artichoke, or seven layer, it's up to you.
