He really does seem to be widely loathed as an individual, and he hasn't actually achieved much in Congress. He must be particularly good at internal party politics or something

SMEGMA_MAIL posted:Lol you still believe American democracy is real in a state like Texas, no less as a way to blame the victims of both random psychos and state back violence, Jesus Christ gently caress off with this take You're misjudging my Hot Take (or I wrote it wrong) - I'm not blaming the entire state, nor am I blaming the victims. I'm blaming every one of the (allowed) voters that are going in and deciding "yes, this is what I want" because they have full capabilities of deciding "hmm, maybe this isn't what I want after all" and they never do. Then I'm blaming the politicians that deliberately set up said system so that only the non-mind changers have the clearest opportunity to vote. Then I'm blaming the system as a whole for forcibly evicting/killing the aforementioned native Americans and other tribes in areas like Texas to set up the system as it stands today. Here's more at what I'm trying to get at: https://twitter.com/shannonrwatts/status/1538888066856718337?t=Zn81IW7HOI8eE7VUnQb9hQ&s=19 At some point, Republican primary voters has/had to say "yes this is what I want", then they're surprised when poo poo gets hosed. Each and every one of those people has the ability to go "no, bad", but doesn't. They want it! And so on for the politicians restricting who votes, and so on for the overall system, and so on. I'm not trying to blame victims, I'm blaming the voters that WANT more victims, the politicians that WANT more victims, and the system that WANTS more victims, when all of those wanters, as the voting majority (corruptly constituted), actively has the ability to change their mind. Hopefully that's less westwingey because this voting majority absolutely agrees that "yes, I want this" when they have full abilities to say "uh no, I would like power please instead of Cancun Ted"

The thing I will never understand about Ted Cruz is how come you can't just point out that he is Canadian and watch the Texans turn on him. I guess all the bluster about the south being so great isn't worth much. And then there's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mH4yj6YwA2g C'mon Ted!

Another example of what I'm trying to say, revisiting a previous story: https://twitter.com/US_Stormwatch/status/1536838200110374920?t=93-KqiJxrcXsQ748Gi-yVA&s=19 https://twitter.com/benpershing/status/1537759213614731267?t=6T39Xp5ymub30JCoRRA4Hg&s=19 Republican voters voted for Gianforte in the House primary because he bodyslammed a reporter and all of them could've changed their minds. Then, they voted for him in the governor primary because dammit, he fights that big bad media! Then catastrophic flooding hits the state, he's on vacation in Parts Unknown, and the most anyone could get out of him was "well, he delegated all powers to the Lieutenant Governor!" Each and every voter that voted for him, multiple times, got what they voted for!

I voted for Biden because I was told he was going to protect voter rights and that didn't work out, so at least one group is getting what they voted for

Marshal Prolapse posted:Piece of poo poo cowards. Like they should pray the families and others don’t literally tear them apart. Yeah. This. Like, I get that most ballistic shields are IIIA and won't stop rifle rounds. But 1) it'll slow rounds down, and 2) its your loving job and training to rush towards the gunfire no matter the risk to personal injury and if you're not willing to run towards gunfire and kill an active shooter then turn in your badge and find another job. It's loving simple. Take two officers with shields, have one officer with a halligan go in between the two shields and try the door. If the door's unlocked, back off momentarily and stack up with flashbangs ready and make entry. If the door's locked, get the halligan and bring up a guy with an axe or sledgehammer and bash that poo poo in there. There HAD to have been a mechanical and or explosive breaching specialist there within 30 minutes. loving do your goddamn job. I dont give a gently caress if its a metal door and a bunch of officers die trying to open it without success. That's the loving least they should've done. I would've been scared out of my loving mind too. But it's what you do when you're scared that matters. Those officers failed. Also there was almost assuredly a Level IV rifle rated ballistic shield there within 15-20 minutes. loving every agency in a wide rear end radius was there, even feds. Even IF they waited for that to go in, it'd still be dereliction of duty, but at least it wouldn't have been 70 minutes. But they waited 70 loving minutes like goddamn cowards.
