The feral cat colony on my little island somehow has the savvy and fortitude to survive tropical storms yet they never notice me jogging down the sidewalk until I'm within a metre of them. I do love their shocked little faces as they scramble to hide.

In other news Lump is going to an eye specialist, it's possible she'll have to have her right eye removed.
She remains unbothered. Here she is enjoying pets from a guest.

Yeah cats, like humans, can get along just fine with only one eye but Lump is a special baby and I hope they can fix what's wrong without going to extremes like that.

Edit: All cats are special babies.

Upgraded Shelley to a 20 gallon, she seems to be digging it. Should be plenty of room for now, will have to do some hunting for a place where I can keep a 55 gallon in the future though.

Hell yeah, beautiful tank. I begged for a pet turtle as a little kid thanks to TMNT but luckily my parents knew better. What do you like most about turtle parenting? Does Shelley surprise you?

Ended up being super spur of the moment, but I'm loving it so far. It's kinda nuts how much personality they have, I always figured they were closer to the reptile side where they don't really care about their keeper beyond getting fed but she rushes right up to the glass to meet me in the morning and when I get home, loves to chase my finger around the tank too. Growing super fast too, she was probably about 3/4" in diameter when I got her last month and she's up to 2" already. From what I've read the growth will slow down a decent bit once she's about 4" though.

Yeah the main thing with turtles is you can play with them but I don't think you're allowed to touch them because turtle carries a disease that's harmless to them but dangerous to you (salmonella) although transmission is pretty rare. So wear gloves when you clean their habitat.

I mean like, I just wash my hands afterwards and it's working out okay. Definitely important to remember if you've got kids around though.

Thats weird, I handled all kinds of turtles as a kid and I don't remember ever getting sick.

Transmission is pretty rare but salmonella is no fun and especially not if you're a kid. It's a basic precaution, like cooking your eggs.

Yeah, I had a cousin who died from salmonella poisoning, specifically from playing with turtles. He was about 12. Be careful out there.
