Hmm. I got to admit I don't fully understand what's happening to the cow. Is the robot just firing sedative darts at it nonstop for some reason

Looks to me like it had a timer telling it how often/long to fire darts. But at some point in its history its timer bugged out and now it's just firing sedatives constantly until the animal is gone.

It seemed to be waiting for the tranq to kick in, except the 'wait time' function has malfunctioned due to the OS running for (a long time) without rebooting and has overflowed into a negative time between shots.

Exploration is ill-advised.
Reminds me of how a comic said that sentience may seem like overkill for a robot, but it can actually be a safety feature. As in, being able to question what they're doing, why they're doing it, if it still needs to be done, and if they're doing it right.

I think this is the 10th comic in a row where I've put in a lens flare with Photoshop. What can I say? It's a nice-looking effect and all I have to do is click to use it, as opposed to the Combine Post Office postmark, which took me about an hour to put together.

The lungfish remark is a reference to one of Breen's speeches, the full text of which can be read here. Plus, I think this site(dead link) has something to do with lungfish.

Okay! I'm never posing seagulls again. Ever! You know, the gunship is the size of a city bus and it's a piece of cake to pose, and the seagull, which is the size of a seagull, takes forever. Weird. The gull has a bunch of joints and they're very tiny, hard to find, hard to grab, and hard to hold on to. The birds are also extremely top-heavy, so unless you grab them by the tip of their beak, they tip way over and point straight down and are really difficult to rotate. Yuch! And I thought antlions were bad.

Working with live seagull spawns is no picnic, either, as they're very fragile. Brush them with the phsyics gun beam or an object and they squawk and die immediately. Many, many seagulls were killed in the making of this comic.

Laszlo and his friend (you meet them in the game in this chapter) appeared together in comics 85 and 86. Since then, Laszlo has gained an 's' in his name, apparently. In addition to spelling his name wrong in Ravenholm, it appears I also used the wrong model for him -- when I did the Ravenholm comic, I assumed Laszlo and Sandy (not my Sandy -- the Prima Guide to the game says Laszlo's male friend is named Sandy) were random models and that they changed every time you played, like most of the NPCs. But, after loading this map a few times, it appears that Laszlo is the male Asian model and Sandy is the male model 07 (the one I use for Frohman). Oh well. I would have had to change Sandy's (again, HL2's Sandy, not my Sandy) anyway. Is this confusing enough?

Sorry the comic was late today -- I had no internet connection at home last night, so I couldn't post it until this morning.

Good guess! It's from a game I made for another friend, "the Asquith Hornsby mysteries," where all the characters are named after consecutive Sydney train stations. The stats are Shenanigans, Pugnacity, Ennui, Probity, Aesthetics. There's also "Marmalade" but I forgot to put that in.

Also, this comic looks interesting, but goddamn is it japanese as all gently caress.

Don't get me wrong, the art is good and the characters are cute. But the translator has no idea what the gently caress they are doing, and every scene is like a high school girl staring at another high school girl inner monologuing "This girl? She is standing in this corridor. What is she...?" while a giant sweat drop protrudes from her temple and 75% of the panel is taken up by the the kanji for the very specific onomatopoeia for "two girls staring at each other in a corridor".

Different mediums use different conventions, and it can definitely take some getting used to! There are some vertical webtoons that take me a second to reorient to. In something relationship-focussed like Qualia, you're going to naturally find a lot of panels dedicated to emotional close-ups, pauses, and reactions. Flip open almost any western comic, and search for panels dedicated to a held beat; they're extremely rare! Manga's longer page count and simplified style incentives a focus on 'small' moments, and that can be frustrating for folks used to a higher plot-beats-per-panel ratio.

Certainly some of the translation is stilted. It's not likely to ever get an official North American release, so we're dependent on committed fans to do their best.

I remember something vague about robots that lacked that. They were supposed to build a room or spaceship or something but they outlasted humanity and never got told to stop so there was just a house the size of Jupiter or a galaxy or something. Wish I knew if I made it up while loopy on cough medicine or not.
