One of the fun things about observing the culture at a very large government research lab is the mix between 20-30+ yr vets coming in doing their second career after they retire (usually from quite operational career fields), and entry level college hiring from large schools in this area (MD). Nothing quite blows up in public, but it is oil and water at times and I can sense the old vets cringing at things like diversity & inclusion initiatives coming from the top down. COVID did expose a bit more of this than normal and I know some people left my organization because the LIBERALS were FORCING people to get the EVIL VAX. (so was the DoD, and the rest of the govt, buddy)

The TL;DR is that 5.7mm is a very fast round with very little stopping power and a very high chance of overpenetration, even out of a pistol-length barrel.
