Why, yes, I do like Kirby games.
Yeah, definitely get the U.S.S. Sally Ride; literally all you have to do (once you unlock the Admiralty system) is talk to the ship in sector space. I'm actually a little bit mad I had to Google admiralty ship info to find out about it.

There are also four Admiralty ships available in the Phoenix Redemption Store; they're only Very Rare, so it shouldn't cost much dilithium to get them.

That new terran gamble box ship seems fine I guess. Interesting trait, potentially.

Not sure how good temporal is at supporting a traditional shooty dps build though. Probably doesn't really matter.

I'm an idiot and decided to play this again. The desire to rewatch TOS/TNG probably has nothing to do with it.

So do we still have some goon fleets in game? I think it's been.. since Discovery was added that I last played.

Dental and Nerds of Prey are still around if quiet. We have the 'TheNextGooneration' chat channel, but if you want an active fleet you might have to look elsewhere.

Do you just put it up at 1 zen = 500 dil and wait until yours is one of the four million picked, or is there some trick to it?

If you're still in the channel, yes. If you need a channel invite, post your @name here and someone who has invite privs will eventually get to you.

I believe with recursive shearing’s updates and vanguard specialist, temporal can be a nice topper to a DEW build

Yeah. Miracle Worker is leagues better but Temporal is probably second solely due to recursive shearing. It helps that it stacks with the base weapon modifier skills and isn't exclusive like surgical strikes and so on.

These five admirality cards (4 phoenix+Sally) are also very good cards; VSS Tanius alone is 100/90/90 ship so it can solo those later campaign missions so you only lose one card to 24h mission+ cooldown, Phoenix Replica can be 60/60/60 depending on what event it cancels, and the rest three have very good numbers in general, AND each have either +20 to ENG/SCI/TAC for any ship, ensuring that even the crappy cards you get by getting T3/4/5 ships can be useful.

They are, along with Sompek lightning and that prolonged engagement set one of the more useful purchases from the Phoenix boxes, that doesn't require you to win lottery and score an Epic token.

Also the proglonged set and sompek items only need to be bought once for account-wide unlock. They show up in the dilithium store reclaim tab.

Ah yes, they you only need to buy once; I also usually get the sompek item set (fighting gloves and that level-scaling shield) when leveling a new captain. They are also "global unlock with first purchase"-deal.

One another thing that is at least somewhat useful is red matter capacitor; ship items are usually either "summon help" that has universal cooldown, or borderline useless crap. Red matter capacitor slots into that, and gives energy+removes debuffs, and it isn't limited use like most items are.

The only trick is to place as big of a buy offer as you can and wait and don't cancel and relist. Offers get filled in the order they were posted. The line is currently about 2 weeks long.

The help summons are weird. It’s a universal timer but they also have a per item timer. I think it’s five and ten minutes. So id you slap the one that summons a bunch of fed assault ships you can’t use the pirate summon for five min, but when the pirates are up the assaults still have five or six or something minutes on them.

Point being it’s worthwhile to slot multiple.

The improved fleet support call power also has a longer duration than its cooldown, which means you can get a little fleet of npc ships if yiu keep pressing it every few min.

The consumable evasive manuevers is pretty good. https://sto.fandom.com/wiki/Deuterium_Surplus

Newer players might get some use out of Hull Patch.

Yeah that's the general consensus. It's pretty slick looking too.

I'll also give a solid nod to the Arbiter, it's not top of class any more but it's still good.

I don't know as much about the escorts, but there are a solid handful of decent ones. I think the icarus is still good? The andorran escorts also have a few good perks and pilot maneuvers.

If you're looking for pure DPS and don't care about what type of build, the fleet Malachowski held the DPS record for awhile. It's got a great setup for a kinetic torp build. You need a bunch of expensive traits/gear for that build of course.

For sci builds the Verne technically meets your requirements and is the best pure science ship in the game. For a cheaper fed sci ship, the fleet Nebula is one of the better sci ships available in the c-store.

For more standard beam builds you can look at things like the Inquiry, Gagarin, or Lexington.

For cannons, the Adamant will let you play around with CSV and surgical strikes builds (surgical strikes works better with mostly cannons due to their increased DPS compared to beams). For a MW cannon ship, look at the Da Vinci (fleet version available).

How do missions handle big ships like carriers and battlecruisers? Do they scale based on what you're flying (i.e., more or higher-level ships), or is it your ship that's scaled (i.e., all ships of a given tier are very roughly capable of taking the same amount of opposition)?

Is there a half-decent torpedo that applies a damage resistance debuff to the target? Preferably something that doesn't cost lobi, though that's not out of the question. I haven't found anything better than the Nausicaan torpedo so far.

I'm working on a carrier build where pets do most of the damage and my ship does a bunch of buffing and debuffing. Kinda vaguely following this model, but with the budget poo poo I have available to me.

Looking at my Franklin and getting grumpy it doesn't have flips, it really screams for flips. (Maybe it would've sold a few more if it did, it was one of those ships that really weren't worthy of a promo pack instead of lockbox and I suspect performed terribly)

Enemies don't do enough damage for damage reflection to do anything, Feedback Pulse sucks for the same reason.

That console is going to screw up random TFOs I just know it.
