Do The Universe could have been a miss but they still got it. A fish out of water story but B&B were outcast dumbasses even in their own time so the comedy fit like a glove. They're not even really cognizant enough to even realize they're in the future, so there isn't much of a "whoah things are different" plotting like a lot of these revivals do (like that Rocko's Modern Life movie from a couple years back.) The movie doesn't even revisit the extended cast to see where they are now. They get a lot of comedy out of an iPhone though. Kinda disappointed that the aged up B&B was for a brief shot, but it makes sense within the story. The ending has them remain in the present day, 2022 rather than them going back in time. Pretty funny and fitting that the entire extended cast of the original show thinks that Beavis and Butthead died in space in 1998. Brilliant way to continue the show if they want to.

I didn't like Do the Universe. I just didn't think it was very funny. Also I don't think they did enough with them being in the future they should have done more with Beavis and Butthead fish out of water in 2022 but it seems like they spent too much time just getting them into a scenario where they'd be there. And when they were there there were the smartphone shenanigan's and the white privilege bit (which I thought was done well but then they showed the best part of the movie in the trailer so the rest was kind of a let down). A lot of it could have just been them being chased by the government in car chases in any era. I would have liked to see more time and jokes devoted specifically to them being out of their normal time if that was gonna be the premise. But most importantly at the end of the day I just didn't get as many laughs as I normally do from B&B I went in with really high hopes maybe I was setting myself up for letdown.

TIL that Beavis is his last name. Also kept wondering why this looked like your average Adult Swim cartoon and not, you know, beavis and butthead until I saw that Titmouse did all the animation, now it makes sense. Pretty entertaining and laughed a buch, esp at smart beavis and butthead's dialogue.
