I don't like mowing the lawn because we have a short but steep slope with a turn and an apple tree with low hanging branches in the middle of it. The rest of the lawn is fine. It's not the most fun task of course but it's not the awful hellish torment those lazy sods are whining about, pushing a semi-self powered mower back and forth on a flat surface. :argh:

In which case, the taco truck was right there. She knows Luann is lazy. "Yo, but the taco truck is ten feet away and the burger place is waaaaay over there" would likely have worked. So she's bad at ispiring people and at psychology.

Ah, a completely different yet equally dull and poorly done outcome. I can't predict the master after all, Mark Trail. The payoff for Rusty's storyline is he literally sees a cryptid and it saves his life and we're going to skip over that?

Y'know what, it's fine. He's not doubling up on dating folks, he wants out of the thing with Dawn to go chase after that other gal so he breaks up with her before starting. Probably a stupid decision, best of luck, please do not involve me in your soap opera.

But it's the point of the strip so soap opera ahoy!

Really a bad idea though, can't wait for it to blow up in his face. Dawn should slam the door on him while laughing hysterically when he inevitably comes crawling back to her door lamenting that he hosed around and found out.

Big Nate Year 1 (May 27-28, 1991)

I watched the cartoon version of Big Nate a while back and the more I read the original strip the more I hate that they made his teacher an actual kid hating villain in the show. It's much more funny if she's a normal person doing her job and Nate's just an rear end in a top hat with an overactive imagination.

In 1951, there were multiple wildcat strikes (strikes done without a formal union vote or authorization from a union organization) in NY dockyards. These caused supply shortages in Korea.

Actions of this sort are often credited for helping to fuel anti-union sentiment in the US postwar.
