The Avalanche were the first real sports team that I followed from a young age I remember staying up super late to watch them when the cup in 1996 and I remember Sakic giving the cup to Bourque in 2001. In what has been a few rough years for me there's just something about tonight that feels special about them winning and it makes me feel a whole lot better about things. What a loving ride.

Pretty pleased to see Tampa not threepeat. Nothing personal, but I feel like they've been getting a poo poo ton of lucky breaks and help from refs in the playoffs when they've needed it these past few runs to the finals. Still a top 5 team in the league though, but I never felt they were THAT good enough to threepeat or necessarily make it to three consecutive finals even without insane performances from Vas, puck luck and slight league favoritism towards deep south teams.

No, it’s just because no one else has won it in a couple years. It doesn’t make it any less nice for the guys that won though. St Louis had a similar bunch as well. But now that they’ve won one no neutrals will really care if they win another for a long time.
