I was in the beta for Sandrock and from the moment they implemented it to the last version I played (which admittedly was several months ago), I could never do the desert farming stuff they touted so much because trying to use the tool to do so would crash the game without fail. I submitted a bug report with saves and everything and never heard a word back, and I never saw anything in the changelogs to suggest they ever resolved the issue, so I guess my system is just incompatible with that mechanic for whatever reason,  .

I'm also not going to romance or have a kid with anyone, don't think I ever have in farm sim games unless you really need to for some functionality. The Romance stuff seems very very important to some players though, basically any NPC that exists has someone out there baffled why they can't marry.

Fantastic game, fun characters, runs well, and both the farming and the combat have a lot of depth to them.

I will second that, I was so off put by Olive Town that I barely put more than a handful of hours on it, and I'm a die hard HM/SoS person. I really wish they'd learn from Rune Factory or Stardew of what players want and how to make an enjoyable game. I was aghast that they took portraits out and relied on the 3d models for emotion etc. Rune Factory 4 is incredible and the port to Switch is good, like it's an all timer favorite of mine. I've beat it 3 times or so.

I got Olive Town recently, and loved it. I gather it had a lot of problems that were patched out but since I didn't play it back then I can't really compare. All I know is that right now it's quite good.

I tried out Sun Haven a while back and I think it needs a bit more time in the oven. There's a lot of cool stuff there, and a lot of potential, but it has some rough edges and the gameplay doesn't seem to flow all that well (things feel very disconnected and each skill/activity/town feels like its own silo that doesn't interact with a cohesive whole). I'm not that big a fan of the UI, and the skill tree is a bit poo poo in its current form (lots of little tiny boosts instead of fewer impactful choices in the vein of Stardew Valley). But, the characters are fun, the food system is really neat (permanent and diminishing stat boosts from each unique food), the combat is basic and serviceable, and it's fun to use magic to perform various tasks more effectively.

The PS4 version of Pioneers of Olive Town will be releasing in North America on July 26, and on July 29 in Europe. It unlocked on steam early, I haven't played it yet but have seen some reddit posts of sub 1second load screens between areas, 60fps on low end CPUs, 4k at smooth framerate with unknown hardware.

Honestly the worst part of the change to full 3d was it somehow makes the MCs seem even younger than just having portraits. I'm sure texmods won't be far behind whatever modding api emerges though.
