Darren Bailey got Trump’s endorsement. May Miller said that the Roe decision is a “historic victory for white life” (her campaign said she meant to say “right to life”). Supposedly, Irvin/Bourne’s street team is finished and they have cleared out some of their headquarters in Springfield. Ken Griffin is leaving the state because he cannot buy influence and power so he is going to Florida to do just that. Pritzker made a trip to New Hampshire in hopes of running for President in 2024. Primary day is Tuesday…. “I hate Illinois politics”

Inside the Illinois GOP's $50 million primary 'debacle'NBC posted:“This is the biggest debacle I’ve ever seen. It’s the biggest screw-up I’ve ever seen and the biggest waste of money I’ve ever seen,” said former Illinois Republican Party Chair Pat Brady, who is doing communications work for candidate Gary Rabine. lol. Glad for as hosed as the D's are on a national level, state dems are about as cutthroat and brutal as they should be.

KSDK out of St. Louis is airing Illinois election results and analysis live if anyone is interested. Here is a link for their site. Or they are airing on Facebook if that's your thing. Edit: loving Darren Bailey has his campaign headquarters in Effingham, because of course. I hate it here.

Rod Hoofhearted posted:Yeah, that's a factoid that sounds... wrong. So I scrolled down to see the smallest town and hopped into VR to visit Rentchler IL, wondering if it was a ghost town. No, it's just farmland east of St Louis. The houses you can see in street view are a bit run down, and I immediatly had flashbacks to some rural town in Lithuania I visited on a random jump until I saw the trump 2020 flag flying. When you pull out of streetview and into satellite mode, you see that the other houses are actually a fair size and all seem to have inground swimming pools. There also seems to be way too many houses for that population of 4.

The town of Lis has 1 house, 1 abandoned car lot and a grain elevator. It also has a sign that warns about “crosswinds”. I have driven through this place for almost 40 years and have never felt a crosswind in my life.

Two thoughts: 1) I was aware of Aurora getting ready to pass 200k some time ago because the Illinois Workers' Compensation Act contained a couple of carveouts (for police and fire departments) exempting them for municipalities over 200,000. This was an obvious way to single out Chicago without explicitly saying so. Sure enough, it was recently amended to 500k. 2) I haven't looked up the relevant dates, so I might be totally wrong, but I swear I remembered Newman's ethics problem coming up before the redistricting was completed, and if that recollection is correct I am convinced they did it this way in order to turf her out without having to have her get nailed in an ethics investigation in Congress. Making her compete in DuPage, which has been blue lately but in a moderate blue way rather than a left blue way, seems tailor-made to let Casten crush her so that it ends there.

I got two text messages like this today. First time all election. They are from a group connected with Jesse Sullivan. It crossed my mind that he could decide to run an independent campaign just to gently caress over Bailey (who is apparently hated by a lot of the candidates).

Had some hope that Kina Collins could take out Danny Davis, but it’s not looking great right now. Would need a big comeback. I’m in IL House district 15 and Michael Rabbit is not too far behind Mike Kelly, but I don’t think he’s going to pull it off, which sucks. Kelly was appointed after D’Amico retired. Kelly is an empty suit with no ideas and would be a Republican if he didn’t live in chicago. Rabbit was fairly progressive, and he’s actually doing a lot better than I thought he would, but not good enough.

Nope, the new district came out before the ethics issues came to light, and everyone was pissed that it seemed like they were turfing her out as revenge for Lipinski or being too progressive or something. But then the poo poo came out and it was so ham-fisted and embarrassing, that I think a lot of people just kind of went, "Oh..." and shrugged. I mean, did the Dems know when they did the district like they did? Probably. But the public had no idea.

Well, I am disappointed my candidate (Karla Bailey-Smith) didn't win in our local House race for the 91st. She was 100% grass-roots whereas her opponent was rolling in state party and union money, and got a Durbin endorsement. I guess 65-35 was inevitable when the party picks the candidate before the primary. Time to start planning for end of campaign reporting I suppose.
